My first thought was to do a crazy quilt, where you can take pieces of clothing and piece into blocks the size of the windows and decorate the crazy patches with thread, mementos of your son, photo transfers, jeans, shirts, pins-just stuff, it will reflect his life and celebrate it. I am so sorry for your loss. Quilting is a great therapy, and this board will open their hearts to you and help you.

It has 6 panes of glass and I'm trying to decide what block to do. I don't want anything diffcult as my skills are rusty! The panes are 7 5/8 x 11 5/8. The grills in between the panes are 5/8. I did one of these in the 80's for my SIL I think I did the Ohio Star, but can't swear to it. Would anyone be willing to share their thought on a block? I join the blocks with sashing so it looks like a quilt in a window. Thanks again, I look forward to talking with you all.

Welcome for Washington state. If you get a chance to post your pictures of the things you made, I would enjoy seeing them. I'm sorry about the death of your son. I know how difficult that is. I love the fragrance of memories that come to me over the loved ones that are not on earth at this time.
The quilt you are thinking about making sounds very interesting. I look forward to hearing more about it. |
