HELP! #2 Pencil did not erase - what to do?
I sent two quilts (kings) to long arm quilter and asked they be squared and trimmed. Got them back - WRONG design, not the one I chose and NOT squared up or trimmed which I paid for as I knew time would be short to finish. Need to apply binding and hand sew. Got them back a month late as well. NOT HAPPY. Most distressing were the pencil marks - looks like regular #2 fat pencil lines and not just one.
HOW DO I REMOVE WITHOUT WASHING QUILTS? HELP, sewing binding strips as we speak but need to remove pencil marks quickly. What works. Thank you - Thud, that is the sound of me hitting the ground when I saw my quilts! |
I have never tried this, but found it after doing a quick search, hopefully it might work for you.

Ohhhhhhhh, I'm so sorry for you. Don't have any ideas, but will be watching the board, they are knowledgeable.

I use a marking pencil that looks just like a #2 pencil and it does wash out but sometimes it takes a couple washings. Hopefully that's what is on your quilt. Have you let the person who quilted your quilts know it wasn't the design you wanted and they didn't do what you'd asked? I would!!! You put so much time and work into your projects and they had no right to do what they did and didn't do. If for whatever reason they thought a different pattern would look better you should have been contacted BEFORE anything was done. I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience and hope you can salvage your precious quilts. :(

I have tried this and it works! Make a solution of 3 fluid oz. rubbing alcohol, 1 fl. oz of water and 3 or 4 drops of liquid dishwashing detergent.
Place in a squeeze bottle and shake well. Wet the corner of a rough washcloth with the solution and rub over the pencil markings. Wet a second cloth with clear water and wring out; rub over the treated surface to rinse. Let the quilt air dry. Lines will disappear entirely when the quilt is dry. Heavy pencil marks may, however, require a second treatment for complete removal. Hope this works for you. |

AS A longarmer myself. I never mark a quilt without permission from the customer. then we discuss what kind of markers to use. If they dont want marks at all, then we have to have a different plan. I always quilt what the customer wants, no matter what. I have used thread color I didnt like, but the customer loved it. So, sorry this didnt work for you. hope you have better luck next time.
