HELP! Any color experts out there?

I am doing a silhouette of a couple under an arch. (It measures 3 feet x 5 feet and will be used as banners in a wedding.) The background is white, I have a light taupe and a darker taupe. The arch is not really correctly proportioned to the couple. It's ok - it just looks closer to you than they are. The arch is the frame in that it also frames along the bottom of the banner. My question is this: Do I want to use the darker fabric for the couple to bring them forward and the lighter for the arch to make it appear farther back or do I use the lighter fabric for the couple to bring them forward and the darker for the arch to make it appear farther back? Help! I need to cut the appliques out tonight.

I am sorry but I have no idea. But it sounds beautiful and a wonderful wedding piece.

The colors are far more taupe than the gray that they appear.

If you look at a painting, it's light in the background and darker coming toward you.

If the couple is in darker colors, they will stand out more and your eye will see them first.
If it were me, I would trace these onto a separate sheet of paper and color the objects in with crayons. That may help you decide .... or not. This is quite a project you have there. It will be beautiful whatever you decide.

Darker colour for the couple because they should be the focus. Awesome silhouettes and I can't wait to see it.

It's 3 ft x 5 ft so not sure I can do that. This is all heat and bond that it's traced onto.

You guys don't think making the couple darker and the arch lighter will make the arch look more out of proportion?
I realize the couple should be darker, but will that make the arch look even more out of proportion? My only other option is to do it all in one color or the other...

I see here, that the "brides" right shoulder is still too big and he looks like he's wearing his pants too low. I'm sure it's just the way dress pants lay sometimes, but I should bring the crotch up huh?

I am no expert but I will give you my opinion since you asked...I think the arch would look funny maybe even spooky dark. I would make the couple dark and the arch lighter. I have been staring at this pic a while I think the couple would look great in the darker color. Your colors are gray on my screen. You've done a beautiful job so far, would love to see it when it's finished.
