This is my queen size quilt top I am currently working on...I need some some help with choosing the fabric for the borders. I need about 8-10" on the border. I would greatly appreciate your imput.
Thank you... Choice #1 Choice #2 Choice #3 The whole quilt top so far...I really like the rust colors |
Choice #2 would be my favorite...
I like #3
I like #2. I think #3 is too busy and #1 looks a bit washed out. Besides, you like the rust the best and it is your quilt. I would bind it in the solid rust that you have in some of the blocks.
I like the 2nd one best! Very pretty quilt!
I think I like 2 better
Love #2. Pretty quilt.
I like the rust best too. That's a pretty wide (IMHO) border to be just one strip. Try a combo border with finished 1" cream, 2" green, 1" cream, and 4 or 6" rust.
Need a strong color to contain the quilt colors before the border. It could be 2" wide, though mine are usually under an inch. Then I like the rust. You could then add another strip of your strong color, then a wide binding in the rust.
Such a pretty quilt!
I like # 2. Beautiful quilt!!
I like Choice #2
My vote goes to #2 as well, very pretty.
the second one makes it all come together

a wide border need multiple strips. At least two. I would not, however, put white as one of them. Perhaps a 6" and a 2" next to the quilt. If using the same color as the sashing, then I would put that color next to the quilt to frame it.
I like #1 the best. The second choice is too busy and takes away from the main quilt!
i vote for #2, makes it look warmer

Ok I've been sitting here studying my quilt and all of your comments...I think the majority says to use a 2"-3" border of the green and then 5"-6" border of the rust and leave out the cream color that I have in between on the pics...
THANK YOU all so much for your help...I'm always ready to jump from one step to the next on my quilts but find myself not always pleased with the results...so I'm learning to take more time with them and even take pictures and study them for a bit. Thank you all again.... |
I like the rust best, without the outer cream.
Beautiful quilt top. I like #2 the best
Much as I love the colors and complexity of #3, I think there would be too much competition with the quilt. So I vote for #2.
Definitely the rust . It makes the quilt colors pop.
#2 picks up the rusts in the blocks....
I like choice #2.
#3. The others draw my eye away from the actual quilt too much.
I like the rust on the edge, it gives it a stronger finish. Then bind in a solid rust.
While I like the pieced border best, I really like a quilt with borders that include fabric that's already in the quilt.

How about the gold/yellow color? Small strip when I look at the picture my eyes go to that color. To me the wide rust color makes just the rust color stand out and washes out the rest of the pretty colors in the quilt. Just my opion, and novice at that.
Everything but the green. It isn't that color; it is that fabric. IMHO
Very pretty--I like #2.

I think you answered your own question...Use the rust! Pretty quilt!
I also vote for #2. Great quilt.
