Choice #2 would be my favorite...

alikat110 06-19-2011 03:06 PM

I like #3

BeckyL 06-19-2011 03:12 PM

I like #2. I think #3 is too busy and #1 looks a bit washed out. Besides, you like the rust the best and it is your quilt. I would bind it in the solid rust that you have in some of the blocks.

katier825 06-19-2011 03:12 PM

I like the 2nd one best! Very pretty quilt!

blueangel 06-19-2011 03:26 PM

I think I like 2 better

suern3 06-19-2011 03:30 PM

Love #2. Pretty quilt.

ShirlinAZ 06-19-2011 03:33 PM

I like the rust best too. That's a pretty wide (IMHO) border to be just one strip. Try a combo border with finished 1" cream, 2" green, 1" cream, and 4 or 6" rust.

irishrose 06-19-2011 03:41 PM

Need a strong color to contain the quilt colors before the border. It could be 2" wide, though mine are usually under an inch. Then I like the rust. You could then add another strip of your strong color, then a wide binding in the rust.

BrendaY 06-19-2011 03:41 PM

Such a pretty quilt!

Dina 06-19-2011 03:52 PM

I like # 2. Beautiful quilt!!

Becky13 06-19-2011 03:55 PM

I like Choice #2

MamaBear61 06-19-2011 04:03 PM

My vote goes to #2 as well, very pretty.

redturtle 06-19-2011 04:09 PM

the second one makes it all come together

I was thinking a combo too. Making the rust the widest.

Pretty quilt!

I would do #3 but dont use the white inbetween the two colours it would be white green the rust

That would be my choice. I would use a narrow green, 2 to 3 inches, and then the rust 5 to 6 inches. I would probably use 2 and 5 or 3 and 6.

Holice 06-19-2011 04:51 PM

a wide border need multiple strips. At least two. I would not, however, put white as one of them. Perhaps a 6" and a 2" next to the quilt. If using the same color as the sashing, then I would put that color next to the quilt to frame it.

978gray 06-19-2011 05:15 PM

I like #1 the best. The second choice is too busy and takes away from the main quilt!

QuiltnNan 06-19-2011 05:36 PM

i vote for #2, makes it look warmer

That's what I was thinking, that a border that wide would look kind of "odd"...I like your idea...thanks abunch..

mimicrystal 06-19-2011 05:58 PM

Ok I've been sitting here studying my quilt and all of your comments...I think the majority says to use a 2"-3" border of the green and then 5"-6" border of the rust and leave out the cream color that I have in between on the pics...
THANK YOU all so much for your help...I'm always ready to jump from one step to the next on my quilts but find myself not always pleased with the results...so I'm learning to take more time with them and even take pictures and study them for a bit.
Thank you all again....

gaigai 06-19-2011 06:24 PM

I like the rust best, without the outer cream.

Quilting Angel 06-20-2011 02:28 AM

Beautiful quilt top. I like #2 the best

mummadee 06-20-2011 02:47 AM

Much as I love the colors and complexity of #3, I think there would be too much competition with the quilt. So I vote for #2.

jwatmough 06-20-2011 02:58 AM

Definitely the rust . It makes the quilt colors pop.

thenonnielady 06-20-2011 03:03 AM

#2 picks up the rusts in the blocks....

theresa.redington 06-20-2011 03:16 AM

I like choice #2.

OmaForFour 06-20-2011 03:24 AM

#3. The others draw my eye away from the actual quilt too much.

Vat 06-20-2011 03:36 AM

I like the rust on the edge, it gives it a stronger finish. Then bind in a solid rust.

Mkotch 06-20-2011 03:42 AM

While I like the pieced border best, I really like a quilt with borders that include fabric that's already in the quilt.

I like this option. if you don't like the idea of the cream in between what about making the cream like a piping? just to break up the 2 colours a little bit.

Becky Mc 06-20-2011 04:10 AM

How about the gold/yellow color? Small strip when I look at the picture my eyes go to that color. To me the wide rust color makes just the rust color stand out and washes out the rest of the pretty colors in the quilt. Just my opion, and novice at that.

quilter68 06-20-2011 04:27 AM

Everything but the green. It isn't that color; it is that fabric. IMHO

Homespun 06-20-2011 04:38 AM

Very pretty--I like #2.

Agree.

psquared52 06-20-2011 04:43 AM

I think you answered your own question...Use the rust! Pretty quilt!

pollyjvan9 06-20-2011 04:44 AM

I also vote for #2. Great quilt.

marybs 06-20-2011 04:45 AM

Pretty quilt! I really like #2

chatonne40 06-20-2011 04:47 AM
