Have cut out and sewn patches for three rag quilts. Have sewn into strips and now trying to sew them together to complete.

Have broken three needles trying to sew all four layers together. Is there a secret to doing this? Very frustrated and could use your input please.

I am fairly new and these are my first quilts

I haven't made a denim quilt but I have made blue jeans. Use a denim or size 16 needle, press your seams open and sew slowly over them.

Use needle made for jeans, loosen the pressure holdind the fabric down, A walking foot also helps. I off set my seams so I don't have as many in one place. I saw one made with strips of flannel between the denim strips. No two ways about it they are very heavy and frusrating....good luck :-o

 I have sewn together one whole quilt without breaking a needle. woohoo!!!!

I turned the seams so one went each way and very slowly sewed over each one. I may get all ten done in time for Christmas.

Thank you for your help. :D

I just finished my first and did jean on top and flannel on back. The hardest part for me was cutting the edges after sewing to make it rag out. This was done the old fashion way with scissors and it was thick! But I love the finished product.
