Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for this quilt? It was available on Craftsy.com, but is no longer available. My daughter posted this on her pinterest wall, and I would like to make it for her. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know either but I love it!

I remember seeing it as "French Twist" in Quilters Newsletter ca. 2004-2005.

Same idea as the quilt in Qbee's post.

It's essentially a charm quilt in that it's only ONE shape - you can make it with mylar template, freezer paper, your choice.
The different fabrics - two or three per block - are placed on a background square (the 4th color).
Machine applique, needle turn, whatever you want.

IIRC, the French Twist name was because the author (a well know quilter) used their collection of French fabrics acquired during a trip to Paris.

eta:
See Susan Briscoe's reply to this blogpost for more info. Seems it was April 2004. My memory isn't as pathetic as I thought.

Also, a link to an ARCO template - http://www.ardcotemplates.com/yyw.shtml
You can trace the shape and them make it any size you want.

I know it as "Yin Yang". Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=yin+...A6rIiwLt9YH4Aw

Debra Wagner's book "All Quilt Blocks Are Not Square" has the template for a 9" block. It's a good book, and there are used copies from $1.83 up at Amazon. I thought once I was going to make enough blocks in yellow and blue for a quilt, but didn't particularly enjoy putting the first one together so changed my mind. Don't know where that block is, but found the template still in my book.

patmadrid 08-29-2012 06:35 AM

I clicked on the pin and it carried me to Craftsy.com. The pattern is no longer available on this site.

patmadrid 08-29-2012 06:56 AM

Thank you everyone for all the responses. I love this board. I knew when I was unable to find the pattern, that someone on this board would know the answer and be willing to share. This quilt may be beyond my level of expertise, but it will be great fun to try. Thanks again everyone.

This one is called Snails Trail and is a very old pattern. I would think you could do the curved one as a fused applique techinque. It would be alot easier than those curved seams!

Geri B 08-30-2012 07:39 AM

yes, the pattern seems to be a yin-yang..and I have seen in a mag in past.......don't know which one or when....isn't it frustrating when you decide to do a pattern it is no longer available..........looked at responses here and was fascinated by the inklingo thing. Altho it seems it would work well printing out those lines for sewing; it seems having to go thru the extra steps of ironing fab onto freezer paper and running thru printer just seems like way too much extra work......not to mention the using of all that ink...I don't know about any of you, but the cost of ink for the dang printer is quite high.....so I am very frugal when I print something.........maybe if these patterns were available to be ironed onto fabric I would consider investing in the concept. But, I did onto the website for the template and ordered the one that can be fused on.......lazy me.......

IdahoSandy 08-30-2012 08:39 AM

It might be related to yen-yan theory. Might google that and see what happens

IdahoSandy 08-30-2012 08:46 AM

Sorry, I spell it wrong. It should be Yin/yang.

maxnme01 08-30-2012 08:52 AM

I'll take the easy route!!! APPLIQUE. LOL

I know! It's gorgeous, and the more difficult something is, the more I like it, but I already have soooo many things on my Bucket List...

Delta 08-30-2012 10:26 AM

you can draw that. it is appliqued onto the white. just make the size square you want and draw it. you can do it. good luck

WisWis 08-30-2012 10:32 AM

It looks very nice and bright-sorry I don'know the name.

MimiBug123 08-30-2012 01:49 PM

I don't know the name of it, but I want the quilt!!!

MimiBug123 08-30-2012 02:21 PM

I've looked and looked at this thing and have decided to give it a shot. I've drawn a template and am going to attempt to applique 2 of the patterns on a white square. This will be a wonderful winter handwork project. Now all I've got to do is make one to see if my brilliant idea works!

Sewnique 08-30-2012 05:41 PM

If any one makes this quilt, please post! Would love to see what you all come up with!

Good for you! Can't wait to see it when you are done. Please post.

BETTY62 08-30-2012 05:56 PM

I'm NOT new to quilting & it looks super hard to me! It's beautiful, tho!

w7sue 08-30-2012 09:16 PM

A friend and I were going to try this quilt several years ago ... I am so glad she has forgotten all about it! lol

Can hardly wait to see what you come up with - remember you can post a picture of the blocks as you go along - we will all anxiously watch your progress and wish we were getting the quilt when it is finished ...

MartiMorga 08-31-2012 07:23 AM

Just, by accident, signed up for a newsletter and got a response that has that pattern - free. Rickey
Blake Designs - see her "Twirl" quilt project. Good luck
