The boarders go across top and bottom ... Elephants or polka dots ???
The ric rack ..... Light pink, dark pink or fat gray ?!?!

The elephants hold balloons that will be light gray or yellow .............
!!!!!! Pattern is Mommy & Me from Annies attic ........

lov2quilt611 06-07-2020 12:52 PM

Very Beautiful....Elephants with dark pink ric rack.

cjsews 06-07-2020 01:33 PM

I like the elephants with wide grey Rick rack

Barb in Louisiana 06-07-2020 01:38 PM

I like #3 - Polka dots with large dark gray ric-rac. It seems to brighten up the quilt and give focus. I would use the small elephant print as the backing if you have enough.

OurWorkbench 06-07-2020 01:56 PM

I agree with Barb. It is more pleasing to my eye. Polka Dot with fat gray or light or dark pink, but definitely the polka dot. That makes the appliques center stage. For me, even though there are a lots of colors, with the elephant border I had a hard time resting my eyes Whereas, with the polka dot, I could more easily see the elephant applique. And if enough of elephant print for the backing.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

I like the polka dot with light pink rickrack, but I think polka dots with any color rickrack works too.

IceLeopard 06-07-2020 02:54 PM

Elephants with fat gray rickrack.

granky 06-07-2020 02:54 PM

I like the polka dots too....and the gray rickrack looks good....

Anniedeb 06-07-2020 02:59 PM

I like the first one...Polka dots, and the dark pink ric-rac. The Dark gray comes in a close second.

I agree! Definitely polka dot border.

nanna-up-north 06-07-2020 05:15 PM

I like #1, polka dots with dark pink ric-rac.

Vasilisa 06-07-2020 10:55 PM

I second Love2Quilt611's opinion - elephants with pink ric rac.

WMUTeach 06-08-2020 02:40 AM

Vote for #1. I like how the grey picks up the colors you have used in the quilt. The same rationale for the pink rick-rack. But as always, it is your quilt, your way. Let it rest a few days and then take a look and see what just feels "right". Then go for it!

copycat 06-08-2020 02:47 AM

First of all Congrats on a cute quilt. I like #3. The polka dots and dark grey ric rack. The grey rick rack pulls out the ears of the elephants and small flecks of grey in the prints.

I can't help but it is lovely!

Number3 sets it off beautifully,

jmoore 06-08-2020 03:08 AM

Love your Mommy & Me quilt. I’ve made two and can’t wait to make another...they are so much fun.

I like the grey polka dot border with the dark (black or gray) ric rac. Can’t wait to see what you decide.

kalady 06-08-2020 03:55 AM

any polka dot combo

The elephant fabric would make a good backing but is not strong enough to be the border.

LAF2019 06-08-2020 04:11 AM

I like the polka dots with either of the pink accents. nce quilt!

Homespun 06-08-2020 04:27 AM

What ever you decide will be too, too cute!

Suzanne in VT 06-08-2020 04:35 AM

I think the 3rd picture is absolutely the best (polka dots with darker ric rac). This allows your eyes to settle on the center of the quilt. There is lots of pink in the center, so the darker ric rac frames that center nicely. The elephant border is too busy and my eyes were darting all over the place when attempting to focus on the center.

illinois 06-08-2020 04:47 AM

If this is to be a quilt that is used, I'd nix the idea of the rickrack. My experience is that it does not stay flat when laundered and takes away from a neat appearance. It doesn't wear well. If you like the look, consider piecing chevrons across the piece. (I like the polka dots.)

KathyM 06-08-2020 05:09 AM

#3, love polka dots

PiedPiper 06-08-2020 06:15 AM

I don't think you can go far wrong with any of your choices, to be honest, but I prefer the polka dots with either of the pink ric racs.

juliasb 06-08-2020 06:33 AM

I am partial to the the first lay out. It has a nice and soft appeal.

EmiliasNana 06-08-2020 06:35 AM

I prefer the polka dot border too for the reasons mentioned and either color rick rack depending on your color choice. Very cute pattern and quilt!

Jordan 06-08-2020 08:23 AM

I like the elephants with grey polka dots and dark pink ric-rac. Going to be an adorable quilt. Good luck on your decision and share with us which finish you end up doing

Mary Christine 06-08-2020 09:46 AM

I vote for #3 as well.

QuiltNama 06-08-2020 10:55 AM

Love #3 as it really shows off the elephants

Jules51 06-08-2020 11:40 AM

Polka dots and dark grey ric-rac would be my choice!

Quilting Chris 06-08-2020 02:03 PM

#3. Polka Dots with dark rickrack.

I like the last picture the best, that maybe partly because of the scale of the shot.

I used the jumbo rickrack on a quilt for my grandson. Not for when he's a baby, but when he's around 3 or so. There are different solutions, I stitched through both sides in mine.

This picture is more about the stuffed applique, but you can see the rickrack.

miz mary 06-09-2020 02:10 PM

Thats awesome ! Thanks! I'm going to sew along each edge, with the curves .....

aashley333 06-10-2020 03:45 AM

I like #2https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Fizzle 06-10-2020 04:16 AM

Polka dots with black ric rac.

bearisgray 06-10-2020 05:01 AM

I did not like the elelphant print for the borders because

it detracted from the appliqued elephants
The colors were not quite "right" for what I could see of the other prints used
the scale seemed "off" - too small

But - this is my opinion -

If using rick-rack - shrink it before sewing it to the item. It will add texture - is that a plus or minus?

The elephant print would be okay to use for the backing,
