Here is my version of "9-patch Pizzaz" by Judy Sisneros. The patterns calls for several solid blocks in addition to the blocks from focus fabric. This is shown in the 1st pic. I took out the solid blocks and replaced them with more focus fabric or more 9-patch. Which one do you like better?

I like the second one better , without the solid blocks. Either way it will be a pretty quilt.

I like the solid blocks. It helps the eye move over the quilt.

I like the second - probably because your prints are reading as almost solids at a distance. If the design was closer together, the solids would be a must to keep the pattern moving.

I like the second much better. There are enough solid or small print areas in the 9 patch blocks to balance the busier fabrics.

With the solid. It breaks up the pattern, gives your eyes a place to stop and rest to take it all in, and adds variety. I think it makes teh pattern a little more soft.
