Help me decide! want to put 6 inch border on this QOV. one of these 2 or make a trip to the fabric shop

dakotamaid 08-23-2014 08:28 AM

The one on the left, since it already repeats it self in the quilt top. One on the right doesn't seem to have the right coloration for the top. JMHO. :)

inspectorcmm 08-23-2014 08:29 AM

That's what I was thinking, the right one was just a fabric I just had to buy when shop hopping one weekend lol

QuiltnNan 08-23-2014 08:39 AM

i would use the one on the left

Boston1954 08-23-2014 08:58 AM

I vote for the left. It brings out the colors in the main body of the quilt.

Luv Quilts and Cats 08-23-2014 09:06 AM

The one on the left.

Knitette 08-23-2014 09:18 AM

I agree - the left one. The cream stripes are at odds with your white background :)

Pennyhal 08-23-2014 09:20 AM

Yep, the one on the left! I think it'll coordinate better.

booklady 08-23-2014 10:44 AM

The one on the left lets the center come out. You're going to have to cut with the design and not the grain to make it look right though. As it's shown in the photo the lines in the left fabric the lines are not straight. Might just be me but if they weren't straight lines it would drive me crazy!
The one on the right brings in the new tan color. Does that go along with the white in the center?
Good luck. These type of decisions are always the hardest!!

joyce blint 08-23-2014 11:01 AM

I think the right one would look good IF it was placed directly onto the small navy print border. It might help bring out the gold (tan?) stars in the quilt. I definitely do not like it against the white.

loisf 08-23-2014 11:05 AM

I vote for the one on the left also. By the way, I think that is one of the prettiest QOV that I have seen. You did a very nice job.

Yes, I agree with dakotamaid. The dark blue print has a soothing pattern that isn't busy. There is a tan in the stripe and your background looks white. Very nicely done.

calla 08-23-2014 11:27 AM

I have to say left too, nice quilt

Three Dog Night 08-23-2014 11:48 AM

I vote for the blue on the left; as others have said the cream fabric in the right on fights with the colors in the quilt.

PurplePassion 08-23-2014 12:06 PM

Very nice looking quilt. the one on the left would go better.

debbiemarie 08-23-2014 12:06 PM

The fabric on the right has a cream background and doesn't go with the white fabric in the body of the quilt. So the one on the left.

My thoughts exactly. Pretty quilt!

Not the one with the cream in it. Stick to white IF you want to use a neutral.

pojo 08-23-2014 01:18 PM

I think the one of the left.

To avoid wonky lines, maybe look for a navy solid or tonal that is the same color as the blue print.

inspectorcmm 08-23-2014 04:45 PM

Thanks everyone! I went with the blue, was just wishing the other would work because I really like the fabric. Will just make sure it goes on the next quilt

omacookie 08-23-2014 04:57 PM

The one on the left is perfect as it is already in the quilt.

Texas_Sue 08-24-2014 04:02 AM

The one on the left would be my choice. It would tie the quilt all together.

localgirl1 08-24-2014 05:05 AM

I would use left then bind with right.

solstice3 08-24-2014 05:54 AM

I like the various stripes but it might not look good in person

Tudey 08-24-2014 06:07 AM

I like the blue. The other one is slightly different in its coloration and is too busy, IMHO

tessagin 08-24-2014 06:10 AM

The one on the left!

sewbizgirl 08-24-2014 06:15 AM

I'd like to see more than just the two prints in the quilt... so maybe a trip to the fabric shop?

nena 08-24-2014 06:16 AM

One on left. That is a really pretty quilt.

Vitality 08-24-2014 06:24 AM

I think it would look really nice if you got a fabric to match the red since you already have a smaller border in the blue.

dee1245 08-24-2014 06:30 AM

The one on the left.

cpcarolyn 08-24-2014 06:43 AM

I vote for the one on the left.

quiltingeileen 08-24-2014 06:51 AM

The one on the left for sure. Fits perfectly!

Billy'swife 08-24-2014 07:31 AM

I also like the one on the left. The red and cream in the fabric on the right doesn't seem to "fit" correctly with the beautiful quilt.

I agree with the left one.

WMUTeach 08-24-2014 07:56 AM

I love the Piano Keys on the right but it is too busy for this particular quilt. I would vote for the blue. It helps keep they the focus on your beautiful work in the body of the quilt.

michelleoc 08-24-2014 08:45 AM

The one on the left - your quilt is beautiful.

matraina 08-24-2014 09:27 AM

I like the one on the left.

llong0233 08-24-2014 09:50 AM

The one on the right. If you have enough fabric to cut the border on the bias it would add interest.
