Mary Catherine, I think I'd just buy her the quilt from Pottery Barn. Too many reasons to list here. But mainly it doesn't sound like she would see all your hard work any different than a shopping trip.
Maybe later you could make them one-like for their 1st child :)

The fabrics are beautiful. Make what you would like to receive.

Beautiful fabrics. Do you know what colors she plans to decorate with? Maybe her maid of honor for the wedding could give you some insite on what she likes. I was looking at the first pic you posted is that what she likes? Looks like maybe she likes the duvet style bed. She probably doesn't want to say in case you pick the wrong colors for her decorating some people hate to say to much about a gift someone is going to make them. Maybe she wants to pick her own for her new home. There are so many reasons but a relative or close friend s/b able to help you. Good luck. I'm sure whatever you make with those fabrics it will be gorgeous. Sue

Very lovely fabric choice. Whatever you choose is bound to be a beautiful quilt!

I think you are being unfair to the young woman. First of all maybe she does not know anything about quilting and wouldn't know any of the names for quilt designs (as a "new" quilter, I am just learning names (and barely remembering them)). As you are an experienced and obviously a fantastic quilter, she has to depend on your selections. Maybe she has seen some of your quilts and would just love to have one, no matter what. I think you should surprise her and I am sure she will be "awe" struck. Have fun.

Beautiful fabrics, I'd fussy cut the white print to get more floral in your blocks. Not sure brides' age but she may not understand quilting design, etc. As already stated, make what you'd enjoy creating. Could be bride likes simple square block.

I agree with everything posted. the picture looks like a comforter to me...a little "poofy". You did a great job at finding similar fabrics! :)

I have a little problem with her not appreciating your time and comitment to the quilt. I would hate to see you invest so much time, love and effort....just to be hurt in the end. Maybe she is too young. I know when I was young I did not realize what all went into it. Maybe like one other person said....make it for her first child. Alot of kids grow up today with instant gratification, they see it, they want it, they usually get it. I say buy her the quilt from pottery barn....and once she has lived long enough to understand some of the best gifts of all cannot be bought, make her a quilt.

the photo looks a lot like a selection of layer cakes left square and sewn into strips. if that is what she likes that would be an easy one to construct. then 'quilt as desired' with a really pretty print on the back. it would be reversible that way. as to the 'puffy or ...' do a medium loft, maybe she doesn't know which she would like. she has indicated a style and color she likes and has given you the freedom of pattern choice. it's no fun to stress to much.
