A friend has this quilt on display. Its quite lovely & probably 1930s viintage guessing just on the color of the blue. Its just blue & cream or off white with a muslin (guess) backing. Hand quilted & probably hand pieced too.

I think it is the Lozenge quilt block.

I have no idea of the name, but it wouldn't be hard to duplicate if you don't mind wasting the fabric under the corner triangles. Cool pattern, though not my colors.

I recently saw it as that, Lozenge.

I think it might be Indian Hatchet.

In Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, it has three names: The X Quisite (from Ladies Art Company), A Quilt of Variety (from Kansas City Star), and Floating Star (from Quilter's Newsletter Magazine). (The blocks form what look like slanted white stars.)

In Brackman's, Lozenge is a six sided block like the blue portion of that block above, without the white corners. Those six sided blocks are arranged to nestle together like a tessellating pattern.

Thanks to all who replied. My friend had looked online but have no idea what or where she searched. So thanks. I'll tell her tomorrow.

I think it's Rob Peter to Pay Paul.
