No, I probably won't start it shortly as I have several in the works & more in my head, not to mention ufo's. I came across the fabric first on the shop's website & then went to the fabric manufacturer's site & found the pattern that went with it. I like it more the more I look at it, but it isn't something I can't live without. On the other hand, I've had a red quilt on my mind for a while and I've wanted to collect fabrics for a future quilt of valor. Still dithering, but I'll decide by the end of today I hope!

So anyway, just completed my order with the best of all possible decisions. I ordered all of it!

If the pattern is one that you really want to make then buy all the fabric to make the quilt! As mentioned before you can always add to your stash for the red/white quilt gradually. Or maybe you can get enought to make the quilt and also stash. I personally buy all fabric to make a certain pattern. I have lots of stash that never seems to match a pattern that I want to make. Also beware that fabric colors can change from year to year. I have some lovelyt peach fabric I bought several years ago and have had a hard time trying to get more fabric to go with it.

Buy the fabric for the quilt and the excess can go to your stash.

i would buy the fabric i plan to use on that quilt that will be started (and finished) right away. then, when you see a red and white, you can buy it in smaller quantities to save for that special quilt. consider this as delayed satisfaction.

Go for the planned quilt. It is a project to complete instead of a "possible " quilt in the future.
