It is not worth all the frustration you are feeling. It takes away from the very idea for the gifting. Many organizations would be appreciative of your talent and the reward would be peace of mind and joy of heart. You didn't sign a contract to do these quilts so no future intent is necessary regarding them. Let go and let God.

You may be dealing with a volunteer, or group of volunteers. They may also be swamped with work. I cerainly understand your need to know if the quilts were received. If you feel strongly that they are doing a needed service and there is not another group doing the same thing, then I like the idea of including a self addressed postcard with the quilt. Is there a nursing home, women's shelter or other group right in your area collecting clothes and food for the needy? They might love to have a quilt donated and you'd be able to just deliver it yourself.

I too agree, find another organization

I really suspect that somewhere in the organizational structure ( staffed by volunteers), there is a glitch. It is probably is all they can do to deal with government/organizational guidelines, uneven staffing, and assorted headaches that come from good intentions with limited resources. Remember how hectic it was when the tsunami hit Japan/Haitian earthquake/ etc? In MHO, the thanks should not come from the organization facilitating delivery, but knowing in your heart that somewhere in the world there is a person who is able to deal with hardship one more day because you provided warmth & comfort. Both of you should be able to sleep better! God bless all who give of themselves!

I am wondering if the organization is staffed by volunteers only. Not to make an excuse for poor communication but when an organization is all true volunteers it happens that those little niceties can be missed because one person is not designated to do as task like confirm the receipt of the quilts. I have worked closely with several small groups that are advocates for young children, not quilt related, and from time to time these kinds of things happen. It is always a reminder that we need to be better organized and in particular thank our donors.

From another perspective, if they were to a charity I would want a receipt for tax purposes. Most charitible deductions need backup documentation if you're ever audited. On the other hand, I would always send them with a delivery confirmation just to be sure they were received.

Next time send the quilts UPS. You can always track the package to see if it got there.

I think any gift should be ackowledged wether it is great or small. If the organization is so understaffed that they can't thank a person for not 1 but 2 quilts they better get some more help. How long does it take to get a card and put it in the mail.

The same happened to me and I thought that it was very rude not so much the thanks but if they got the quilt or was out in outer space and we would never know if she received it at all
