I am working on a quilt for a wedding shower this coming Saturday. I have it ready to quilt but not sure what type of designs to do on it. Please give me your advice on what I should do.
Thanks

Feathers would be a beautiful addition to your gorgeous quilt!

alikat110 07-31-2011 09:27 AM

Not sure of design, but the quilt is gorgeous

paulswalia 07-31-2011 09:29 AM

I have this pattern in my "to do" list so have never quilted it - will watch this string to see what is suggested. Hope mine comes out as beautiful as yours!

jackkip 07-31-2011 09:30 AM

would feathers be too much if I did them in each color?

gypsyquilter 07-31-2011 09:31 AM

nice work, it's beautiful.

MadQuilter 07-31-2011 09:31 AM

The nice thing is that you have large areas to work in and showcase the quilting. I would recommend finding a design that works in the widths of the rows and runs continually. Then I would follow that design along the row as if it ran under the pieces that crosses, continuing the layered effect of the pattern.

I think feathers would be beautiful. Would you share the name of the pattern?

jackkip 07-31-2011 09:38 AM

Labyrinth. I bought the kit from Keepsake Quilting. It was very easy to go together. I just have the hardest time deciding what to quilt.

Thanks for info. It is a beautiful gift. Add: I just looked up the pattern and it's from another Texan! Her name is Debbie Maddy and I love the patterns.

I don't think there's such a thing as too much feathering! LOL Check out some of Charismah's work...she does some beautiful things with feathers. There was a log cabin that she did that was laid out in similar fashion to your pattern.

or even this, feathers alternating with leafy vine

No suggestions except to second feathers. But great quilt you've got started!

blueangel 07-31-2011 11:36 AM

Lovely quilt

Dina 07-31-2011 01:14 PM

Beautiful quilt!

vivoaks 08-01-2011 04:36 AM

I LOVE that pattern! Gotta make one!!! Yours is beautiful, and sorry, I don't do any of the fancy quilting, so I can't be much help with that.

Tweety2911 08-01-2011 04:44 AM

It is a beautiful quilt and feathers would really enhance it!

Mazda 08-01-2011 04:45 AM

Beautiful!

SueSew 08-01-2011 05:16 AM

I have that pattern too, still looking for some fabric for it. Yours looks great -
Please post the final so we can all see how you quilted it!

I love this pattern also.

matraina 08-01-2011 05:54 AM

Can't help with quilting patterns but I just love your quilt.

joyce888 08-01-2011 05:54 AM

I just finshed this very pattern and had leaves quilted all over because my fabrics looked like fall. I think the feathers would be a good choice.

GramaLaura 08-01-2011 05:57 AM

OMGoddness that's a beautiful quilt!! :-D

Cris 08-01-2011 05:57 AM

Beautiful! Sorry, can't help with the quilting advice.

trolleystation 08-01-2011 07:23 AM

The pattern is very angular. I would something with swirls or circles to soften the effect.

dsch 08-01-2011 07:55 AM

GORGEOUS!!!

Your quilt is so beautiful! I love the pattern and your color choices, perfect for a wedding present. I would probably do feathers in the "rings" and then stippling or some filler in between. Cross-hatching might be nice, but I can never do it straight enough.

EagarBeez 08-01-2011 09:41 AM

I don't quilt, but, I think the quilt is beautiful. I would do something that is not too busy to take away from the beauty

franie 08-01-2011 09:45 AM

It is very very pretty. Love it! Anything you quilt will be awesome. I love the Celtic!

Minick 08-01-2011 09:46 AM

Very pretty quilt.

onthelake 08-01-2011 11:42 AM

That is absolutely a BEAUTIFUL quilt...the bride and groom will love it! Can't help you with the quilt design, but I'm sure whatever you choose will be beautiful.

MargeD 08-01-2011 11:42 AM

What a gorgeous quilt - maybe large feathers or scrolls. Sorry I'm not much help.

mountain deb 08-01-2011 01:29 PM

The fabric has a swirling design to it. I would mimic that in the quilting.

LindaDeeter 08-01-2011 01:59 PM

Gorgeous! You do good work! :)

Feathers in each color would be fabulous as is your quilt! MADQUILTER has a great suggestion.
