So far, there haven't been any problems. I did go back and double stitch the bottom seams of the bag for extra durability.

One way to help with the raw edges is to sew a binding over the seams.

I use this method for no show seams anywhere on a bag. I cut the ends off the corners to make a flat bottom for a fancy bag.
