I tend to think the feed sacks are from the 30's or 40's. I remember an aunt having some of them and that was when I was 9 or 10.[in the 40's.

I'm the same age, and in the late 50's, my grandmother made bow tie quilts with alternating squares of bubblegum pink for each of her six granddaughters. The bow ties were all 1930s-style fabrics. Our grandmothers must have had great stashes to have so many of the fabrics 20 years later.

hugs,
Charlotte

I am so glad you rescued that lovely quilt. What a wonderful and treasured birthday gift it will be! I am glad you are putting a label on it. I am 78 and I remember sewing with flour sacks. I can remember fashion shows with all of the garments made from flour sacks. Your quilt brought back fond memories.

Looks like some 40s-50s fabrics and perhaps some older to me...

What a pretty Drunkard's Path quilt. Another reason we should label our quilts. I think that I will remember when I made a certain quilt and I don't. I'm trying to keep a small photo album with pictures of the quilts I've made and when, but I'm not always current. It's a beautiful quilt.

You were right to label it the 50's because feedsack fabric was popular through the 50's.

coincidentally today someone posted a link to biblical blocks and there's one called "Solomon's Puzzle". It looks like your Mom's pattern.

I think you were right in choosing to label it as the 50's. Some of the fabric prints look newer than the 30's prints. And I wanted to say what a beautiful treasure you have!

It looks like feed sack fabrics my DM used in the early 40's.

Looks too pretty to be the feed sacks I wore in the 50s. Smiles, I do agree with the date tho, of late 50s for the calico type prints.
