I am looking for a pattern that uses only two fabrics... one light and one dark... I found the most beautiful fabric that I just had to have. It also did not hurt that it was only a $1.00 a yard :D  I bought 5 yards of the white with periwinkle print and 5 1/2 yards of the dark periwinkle print. They are coordinating.. Any help Please???

Quilters caches has a ton for two colors  And they have pics to show you what they look like ! LOL

MadQuilter 09-14-2010 10:07 AM

Hugs and Kisses is an easy and very effective 2-color pattern. Check it out at quilterscache.com

I second the Hunter's Star. While going through my stash recently, I found two sets of two that I have now set aside for Hunter's Star.

Check out the tutorial for Disappearing 4-Patch. Be sure to scroll through all of the pages to see a sample of the 2-color version.

I can recommend the Klondike Star at quilterscache.com. It was far easier than it looked.

OK, my ADHD must really be acting up because I can't figure out what you are referencing. Could you give either the exact name of the pattern and the site? Attaching a link would be helpful too.

Also an Irish Chain comes to mind..

Quilter's Cache has 2 new 16" blocks-path through the woods and last bastion of the republic, both 2 color blocks.

I'm with Amma on this one ... I made the Hunter's Star once with gold and brown. It was gorgeous!

You don't mention skill level, but this one is great if you're looking for simple:

I put the cutting directions on page 2 or 3.

This is my favorite quilt-- "Potato Chip" for 2 fabrics. It has another old name "Two Step."

Darren

I copied and pasted the instruction for here! the baseball theme is soo cute! Thanks for sharing !

You make a total of 24 blocks that are 12.5 x 12.5. From each of your 2 fabrics (A and B) cut the following:

12 squares @ 8.5 x 8.5
24 strips @ 8.5 x 2.5
24 strips @ 12.5 x 2.5

Frame the Fabric A squares with Fabric B strips, and the Fabric B squares with Fabric A strips. Sew your blocks into rows, alternating A blocks and B blocks. This one doesn't really need a border since the blocks are bordered, but you can put one if you want to.

Good luck--like your fabric choices.

Eleanor Burns has a great book called Day & Night. You can use either 2 or 3 colors.

Merrilin 09-16-2010 01:50 PM

Friendship Star is a good one.

Delilah 09-16-2010 03:32 PM

Anyone considering the Hunter's Star should check out the tutorial given on this Board. Done with strip piecing and NO templates. Am doing one using her method right now. Very easy. I think the lady was from Russia. Here's the link. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-50608-1.htm

I believe quilters cache also has that beautiful Sawtooth Square.

Annz 09-16-2010 05:16 PM

Burgoyne's surrounded. It looks hard but it is not that bad and the results are spectacular.

galvestonangel 09-16-2010 05:21 PM

I am working on a drunkard path, but arranging the block in a different way. It is like the log cabin, there seems to be no end to the ways it can be arranged.

My favorite 2 color blocks are "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" and "Drunkard's Path". I just now realized that they are similar in some respects.

annette1952 09-16-2010 08:21 PM

I love the Hunters Star!
