Congrats, Kutnso

gingersnaps 06-01-2011 05:19 AM

that is toooooooooooooo kool nice job

joyce888 06-01-2011 05:29 AM

Really pretty quilt - love the batiks! I would outline the leaves, cross hatch the pineapples, maybe straight stitch in the center of each border strip.

joysewer 06-01-2011 05:31 AM

Love it!!!

gramacheri 06-01-2011 05:56 AM

Beautiful Quilt! I would do some sort of echo pattern.

lillybeck 06-01-2011 06:03 AM

I have no suggestions but I love the quilt

star619 06-01-2011 06:07 AM

Since the inset triangles mimic the diagonal lines in the pineappples, I think that is what I'd do.

nativetexan 06-01-2011 06:14 AM

that's what I was thinking- echo quilting around them.

Sorry. I forgot the picture first time.

The background is really a little darker than cream color tone on tone. (not white)

Oh wow. I never thought of making pineapples with those chevron strips. That is so cool.

I'd do the pineapple tops with the hand quilting.

Linda71 06-01-2011 06:55 AM

Excellent work

Grandma Libby 06-01-2011 07:24 AM

Oh, love that quilt. Very nice. Looks like you have some good suggestions as to quilting. Hope to see it when it is finished.

quiltingnonie 06-01-2011 07:24 AM

LOVE the batiks!! And I think a closely spaced grid on the pineapple would be fabulous. Then echo around them.

grammysharon 06-01-2011 07:44 AM

I love those pineapples and the beautiful colors. If these are batiks it will be difficult to handquilt. I would machine with SITD and echo around. I like the idea of breezey swirls. Thanks for sharing the pattern name and designer.

There are some good suggestions here and I go along with the making the pineapple pop...my question is, is this a pattern I could buy or did you make it up, or what? I guess my question is, I love this pattern...how can I get it? You have done a fabulous job on this. SIL will love it!

katcox 06-01-2011 09:21 AM

The colors are absolutely marvelous

I agree with this also. Beautiful quilt. Love the colors.

Yooper32 06-01-2011 09:41 AM

My first thought was "echo" the pineapples. I think I will stick to that thought. Very nice quilt, by the way.

I agree with this, but since handquilting I would add SITD on the pineapple itself and the leaves. Would make the back of the quilt gorgeous.

Quilter54 06-01-2011 10:09 AM

I bought it on e-bay but I think if you google Sunshine Pineapple Quilt you will find it. It is by Vickie Stratton.

I agree with Holice. The gridded background will really help the pineapples stand out.

crafterrn1 06-01-2011 10:43 AM

I would diagonal quilt the background then 1/4 inch in on the pineapples and the triangles then 2 soft gentle curves on the piano keys border. Nice job it is a great quilt!

rona thickpenny 06-01-2011 10:58 AM

I adore that quilt . Love the colours .

darcy1936 06-01-2011 11:11 AM

have any of you heard of a blue ambassador sewing machine

ns 06-01-2011 11:13 AM

That is so cute. I would hand quilt around each pineapple. Your sister in law is going to love it and the triangles.

teacherbailey 06-01-2011 11:24 AM

I would echo quilt----quilt about 1/4"-1/2" away from the pineapples, following their shape. Then quilt 1/4"-1/2" away from the first line of quilting, and so on....

mary quilting 06-01-2011 12:00 PM

echo quilt it a finger width apart like Hawaiian quilting love the quilt I want to make one

Just Me... 06-01-2011 02:44 PM

I think I would grid the background and in the ditch the pineapples and piano key border....

I agree. I'd std the segments of the pineapple and then echo. Depending on the batting you're using and the size of the blocks you may not need anything else in those blocks. Maybe a continuous echo 1/2-1" apart to the outside of the plain areas around the pineapples???? And then I'd just do std for the balance of the quilt as well. I don't think you'd want to take away from the lovely pineapples.

I agree

BettyGee 06-01-2011 04:44 PM

I'd go around the pineapple and SID the rest. Gorgeous quilt!

thebossbab 06-01-2011 08:20 PM

Your quilt is just gorgeous...love all the beautiful colors you have in it. So bright and cheery.

heather1949 06-01-2011 08:24 PM

I love the pattern and your colors

Rettie V. Grama 06-02-2011 05:30 AM

I agree with you to some extent. I would make an oval around the stems of the pineapple and another larger around the pineapple, then with the pineapple only atitch in the ditch of each strip then make a large grid diagonally with stitch in the ditch for seams. Love your pineapples.

Since pineapple have a natural grid to them, I would probably grid the pineapples, echo once or twice around them and then since it makes me think of a tropical breeze ... draw kind of flowy curly cues in the background.

TerryQuilter 06-02-2011 06:14 AM

Love it, the pineapples are fantastic :!:
