I have made this for my SIL and want to hand quilt it. How would you quilt it? All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

QuiltnNan 05-31-2011 02:05 PM

did you intend to attach a pic?

Sorry. I forgot the picture first time.

The background is really a little darker than cream color tone on tone. (not white)

I love it! Will you be machine quilting or by hand?

Quilter54 05-31-2011 02:10 PM

This one will be by hand.

Carron 05-31-2011 02:11 PM

I think I would echo the pineapples, it would make them pop out more. Nice quilt.

Holice 05-31-2011 02:11 PM

in tbe ditch around the pineapple to give them definitation and grid the backgrund and ditch the borders.

Do you mean like a cross hatch in the background? I think that is what they call it.

alikat110 05-31-2011 02:15 PM

Love the pineapple. I think you should echo them w/ quilting

sidmona 05-31-2011 02:16 PM

I would std the pineapple and then echo around it.

EskapetheNorm 05-31-2011 02:18 PM

Love the bright colors! Very cute.
Since pineapple have a natural grid to them, I would probably grid the pineapples, echo once or twice around them and then since it makes me think of a tropical breeze ... draw kind of flowy curly cues in the background.

QuiltE 05-31-2011 02:19 PM

SITD for the pineapple and its top.
Fine stipple on white background.
SITD for the rest.

Sorry! yes, stippling wouldn't really be for hand quilting .... the suggestion of little curly air breeze waves sounds good to me!

Mazda 05-31-2011 02:34 PM

I love it!

gellybean402 05-31-2011 02:35 PM

I'm sure it will be a while but I will when it is done. I would like to have it done by July.

eimay 05-31-2011 02:58 PM

That is so neat. I would probably echo quilt the blocks.

tealfalcon 05-31-2011 03:07 PM

Oh love it....sounds like you have a lot of great ideas for quilting.
Where did you find the pattern?

CoriAmD 05-31-2011 03:44 PM

no idea on how to quilt it, but I love the colors! Great job!

Challys 05-31-2011 03:46 PM

Really pretty--I love it!

Murphy 05-31-2011 03:49 PM

I don't know how to advise you to quilt this, but this is absolutely a gorgeous, adorable quilt. I love the colors and the friendliness and hospitality that pineapples impart. Thank you for sharing.

ube quilting 05-31-2011 03:49 PM

I like QUILTE, her idea is good! Also very nice quilt! Oh. It is anice idea but lots of work for hand quilting . In that case I like the breezy curls for the background! :D

JCquilts 05-31-2011 03:51 PM

I absolutely love your quilt. Batiks are a little hard to needle through, so hand quilting will be a little bit strenuous.

That being said, I would stitch in the ditch all the batik seams in the pineapples and quilt around each one and some of the leaves (All of them if you can). In the white background I would do a diamond cross hatch. Start with a line from corner to corner, each way. Then an inch apart from there.

Good luck with your quilting...

maine ladybug 05-31-2011 04:00 PM

Love the quilt. I agree that echo quilting would look good.

I actually bought it on e-bay but it is called Sunshine Pineapple Quilt by Vickie Stratton. My SIL saw it & loved it so I am doing it as a gift to her.

I love this. Did you have a pattern? If so please post the name, I would love to do this with the pineapples in shades of yellow.

mimistutz 06-01-2011 03:34 AM

I absolutely LOVE this quilt, the pattern and the colors. I'm not experienced enough to know how to quilt it, but I think the wavey swirly sounds good.
I may have to get this pattern.
