I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to do this. I have managed to register for the hop twice, but nothing else happens. I go to the shop website, click on the bunny, and I get sent back to the original registration page over and over, but if I do anything there, it just re-registers me for the hop. What am I doing wrong? I'm beginning to think I have fallen for someone's ugly joke! Can anyone explain this, so a moron like me, 'gets' it?

lol... usually near the ShopHop icon that you see on the main page of a site is a Clue or Hint. e.g., "the bunny likes kits," or, "the bunny wants new fabric." Using the Hint, you look at the menu for the site and click on Kits (or new arrivals). look around that page and you'll find another bunny that says, "You Found It!" click on That bunny and you will be taken to the shophop page. You will see your email in a field with a clickable button that says register for prize (or something like that). Click it!!! You will then be taken to a screen that gives you a choice of returning to the quilt shop site, or returning to the list of quilt shops.

Every so often you will be given a pdf pattern for a quilt block that you can download. There are five of them, although I also saw someone post here that there are six, so I may not have done it long enough.

have fun!

You need to go to the list of shops

http://www.fabshophop.com/listofshops.asp

and find your starting location. They like you to start with the initial of your last name. Click on one of the shops and it will take you to their site. Somewhere (on most sites but not all) you'll find a hint as to where the bunny is. Some don't provide a hint and you just have to browse the site.

The bunny you need to click on it will say You Found It. That will take you to a page where you fill in your email address to submit it to show you've found the bunny. You will get an email as well. You can also log in to the site to see which shops you have been to as well as those you still need to go to.

I think there has only been a month or two when I have not found them all but some are more difficult to find than others.

I think you are clicking on the wrong bunny - after you get to the page with directions click on list of shops
Click one shop's name - it should take you to a home page.

on the home page there is a clue - sometimes it's near the bunny icon sometimes it's in the text above. You will end up going into the site using the clue
i.e. the bunny likes kits - go to online catalogue & click on kits
then you should find a smaller bunny icon
Click on this one - it usually says 'you found it' - this will take you to a page which you submit & go back to list to find another.
Hope this helps.

Good luck with the hop. I haven't started yet :|

BellaBoo 11-18-2010 08:21 AM

All shops participating in the hop will have a bunny on the home page. Wrong bunny.

klgreene 11-18-2010 09:37 AM

I did the same thing the day the shop hop started. Then realized that you have to go into their shops. A lot of the shops give you clues, some don't. Some of the "you found me" bunny's are in the newsletters for that company as well. Some make it very easy, and some, I spent way to much time trying to find so just forgot about that company. Once you get one, you'll understand what's going on. Just don't click on the bunny unless it says "You found me" the other one takes you back to the beginning. Make any sense.

madamekelly 11-18-2010 01:49 PM

Thank you everyone! I guess this 'old dog' learned a new trick! Is there anything you can't learn here?

amma 11-18-2010 01:49 PM

Hon, the bunny that says November Hop Shop, is on the front page of almost every shop... that is not the one you want to click on, it is the advertisement icon.

If you go and look throughout the shop, there will be another little red/green bunny and it will say "You Found It"

Here are some hints
Read each stores front/home page for hints
If no hints are given, I check their:
Kits
Newsletter page
New Arrivals
BOM's
Patterns
and maybe poke around a little more in Fabrics

You don't need every bunny to win... if you spend 10-15 minutes hunting and don't find it? move on to the next shop. If you go through the list, and are still short a few bunnies? this can be your next step

In the Members area of the shop hops Home page, you can find a list of the shops you still need, go there to finish up your hop. Sometimes going back a second time? I will find that rascally rabbit right away LOL

gale 11-18-2010 02:08 PM

I never go to the list of shops when I hop. I go to the member's area and then to the 'view shops not visited' link and hop from there. That way if I skip a shop I can easily go back to it later (because it'll still be in my list of shops not visited).

Ilovemydogs 11-18-2010 02:10 PM

This one was relatively easy to get the blocks. I found all 5 within a short amount of time. You get the 6th block at the end of the hop. The only trouble I had was a couple of shops and they didn't give a clue and I wasn't about to spend all day long looking at every single page!!!! Most of the clues are super easy! Anyone needs the patterns, pm and I will send them over.

gale 11-18-2010 02:13 PM

If there's no clue, and it's a shop who doesn't usually put their bunny in the same area every time, I don't even bother. I'll click on the online shop and might click on one link after that but that's it. If a shop gives a good helpful clue, I add it to my favorites list and shop there when I need something.

I am total agreement with what you said, if I spend too much time looking I just go to another shop and that is it.

Aren't computers wonderful? I have mastered the shop hop but at times, get very frustrated clicking away and getting no where. You'll catch on. Shop hop is fun and I've found some wonderful shops looking for the bunny.

Sandra-P 11-19-2010 08:22 AM

I do the Shop Hop each time. If you are having trouble finding the bunny then email the shop. If enough emails are sent then they generally will post a hint for all to see. I being a little OCD actually called the shop hop people and was told that the stores are supposed to have a hint and the bunny is not supposed to me more that two clicks away. Sometimes I am asked to be one of the trouble shooters and I get to hop a day early to see how smooth it will go before it goes live.

Ilovemydogs 11-19-2010 08:24 AM

Good to know Sandra-P!

You are so right! Yesterday, and last night, I found 85 bunnies! Nope no OCD in my family, I got it all! What are 'bonus bunnies'?

Not superior, just have been doing it a long time. A bonus bunny is sometimes inserted after you have found the bunny in the web site. Generally they move them around day to day, to different stores so they are not in the same place on different days. They are doing it with blocks for the hop in Nov&Dec. It is fun to play and I have won gift certificates to some of the stores.

Thank you for the info. Do they have the rules and other info posted somewhere, or do you just learn as you go? Is there any kind of prize list?

Sandra-P 11-19-2010 02:51 PM

You can look at the rules etc, and yes, there are some really nice prizes. Google fabshophop and the web site will come up and you can register.

If they want you to visit the shop way do they make it so hard to visit them in shop hop

penski 11-19-2010 08:15 PM

i bet you are clicking on the wrong bunny , there is a advertisement Bunny and not the official hop bunny

Nope! Thanks to all the wonderful advice here, I have done 85 of the shops. Thank you quilt family, for yet again coming to my rescue! You rock!

Joya 11-19-2010 09:55 PM

The Shop Hop people are very sketchy in their 'rules'. I read them twice and still had a very difficult time getting it. But I finally have it wired.
I think the shops that don't put a hint on their home page may be new to the game. It isn't EASY for anyone till you get it wired.
I do have a useful hint. In the October shop hop I ended up short 11 patterns/recipes. I went to the Shop Hop page in FaceBook and asked it anyone could send me the one I really wanted. It ended up she offered me any others I might need, then a second person responded. Between those 2 nice ladies (both for Georgia) I got all 11 patterns I was missing. Only thing is, I doubt I will EVER make any of the cupcakes OR the quilt.
It was a challenge, though, and I persevered and actually won a $10.00 gift certificate.

Rann 11-19-2010 10:48 PM

I had one today that did not have the bunny where they said it was. I looked at every page of another shop and never found it.

I do the same way.

I hate when that happens. I usually say a swear word or two and move on to the next shop.

Joya 11-19-2010 11:31 PM

I've found that they really are there, but 'hidden' in some out-of-the-way 'alternative' spot for the merchandise they gave you a clue for. I hate these tricky hidden Bunnies, but have found several of them by persevering.

Joya

gale 11-20-2010 10:02 AM

The first year I did it I found every last bunny, Then I said to myself why the heck did I waste all that time finding 199 bunnies (or whatever) when I only needed 130 and I gave all these shops with bad or no hints my time and traffic for nothing. So to me, it's not worth persevering and wasting my time on shops that can't give a decent hint.

gale 11-20-2010 10:03 AM

By the way there's another one called the Quilt Dash, I think it is, that requires you find every single quilt block. When I found out I quit immediately. So I'm glad the fab shop hop doesn't do that.

I have 4 of them left to find. It's driving me crazy!! I finally too Sandra's advice and emailed the shop. lol

carhop 11-20-2010 03:53 PM

i have done about 8 of them and found the clue in the sale items the most frequent

bjdemir 11-21-2010 10:14 PM

I have done 4 or 5 this year, and have found that if you find a few of the patterns and rest are usually availbe on you member page at the end of the hop. I have also won 3 $10 gift certificates. So far what I have used them has been good material.
