Quiltbeagle 07-17-2011 03:57 AM

I really like it the way it is. You did a great job on it.

Homespun 07-17-2011 04:02 AM

I like it just the way it is. Not sure about that dark green for the outer border though

jlong 07-17-2011 04:04 AM

I like the colors you chose. It's very pretty. A thin solid border and then another wider solid border will let your eye rest and will finish it off perfectly.

roadrunr 07-17-2011 04:30 AM

Your top looks nice, I really like it.

psquared52 07-17-2011 04:31 AM

I like it just the way it is.

Creative people can be so hard on themselves! A quilter will see every imperfection, while others see only the amount of work and the beauty. Every slight flaw in a quilt screams out...glaringly to the one who made it! Outsiders don't see beyond the impressive amount of work put into the quilt. And unless you constantly point out what you refer to as the flaws, no one will notice. So relax. Your quilt top is coming along great and you don't need to make extra work for yourself or give up on the quilt. Someday this will become a favorite quilt for someone and all they'll see is the love put into it.

Back in mid 1980s, my DH and I were at a small quilt show in Concord MA area admiring the work of a very talented group of contemporary quilters. I was in awe looking at one particular quilt and commented to the woman standing next to me about how amazing it was, and how I envied this kind of talent. The woman, who I didn't know was the person who made the quilt, started pointing out the "flaws". Then she told me it was her quilt. Honestly, I never saw the flaws... I was just impressed and inspired, and I told her so. By the way, this quilt won best in show!

I took her class this year and love her work and I am doing some of her methods too. Great job!!!

I agree with the others; it's beautiful the way it is. but if you think it's too busy, do the above.

MYWR 07-17-2011 05:13 AM

As far as I'm concerned - it isbeautiful just the way it is!! keep it and if you like- do another with more lights

Linda1 07-17-2011 05:13 AM

I think it looks great. It is a scrap quilt and I wouldn't change anything.

isharu2 07-17-2011 05:42 AM

I love it the way it is!

Shelbyje 07-17-2011 06:01 AM

Hey I love that, that is what I would really like to get going here too to use up my scraps. My problem is I hate to throw any scraps away. So I really have to get busy and do something with them. I reall like that pattern.

Looking at the first picture only I think your quilt is great. I agree with another poster, you aren't far enough away. I think you quilt looks wonderful and I especially like the borders you have chosen. Enjoy!

I LOVE this quilt, Bonnie Hunter's designs are great. First of all you are using your scraps, which is a huge accomplishment. Second of all when you see the fabric on this quilt you will remember where you got it and how long it wasn't touched. You will receive lots of compliments.

Sandee 07-17-2011 07:08 AM

Just wonderful the way it is!!

cactusmomma 07-17-2011 07:08 AM

Don't touch it. I love it. I think you did a great job and I think if you add lights it will ruin the effect you now have.

dphelps 07-17-2011 07:17 AM

Okay, I agree with 99.9% that your quilt is great the way it is. As stated before, don't be so hard on yourself.

judykay 07-17-2011 07:22 AM

In my personal opinion I think that is what scrappy is all about. Do you know of the quilt where you put pieces in a paper bag and pull them out one by one and you must use it unless it is the same as the one you just used. Looks great as is and I book marked it as I think it is a great idea.

That's what I see too!!! I love it the way it is...

aorlflood 07-17-2011 07:54 AM

To me, your lights look like lights...not mediums. I think it's just your perspective because you've been bent over a machine looking at them up close for too long.

From your pictures, they look like lights.

Joanie2 07-17-2011 08:04 AM

I agree -- don't change a thing. I like it!

pstrwife 07-17-2011 08:08 AM

It's great now. Don't be so hard on yourself.

jeaninmaine 07-17-2011 08:41 AM

Personally, I think you should send this one to me, it would look great on my bed and then you could start a new one with colors that you'll be happy with. I love it just the way it is.

Give it a rest somewhere and then take a fresh look at it. Put it in a drawer or closet for a week, then hang it on a wall and step back and look at it from a bit of a distance. You'll love it.

RkayD 07-17-2011 08:46 AM

I think it look fine and when you get it all quilted and wash it you won't even notice.

cassiemae 07-17-2011 08:50 AM

I thinkit looks great leave it as it is. I like Bonnie Hunters
quilt patterns. I have made a couple of her string quilts.

KEEP QUILTING.

LindaDeeter 07-17-2011 08:58 AM

I'm a major fan of scrappy ... just love it! I love the design and especially the use of all those scraps! :)

justflyingin 07-17-2011 09:04 AM

I think it's working as well. That is the problem with these scrap quilts...we don't know what to do with the "mediums"!

goldendog55 07-17-2011 09:37 AM

That quilt is really fine as it is. I am making this same quilt and that is part of the uniqueness of scrap quilts. A medium can either be light or dark, depending on the other values. Bonnie Hunter knows this, too. Look at some of her quilts. This little change in value is what surprises us and keeps us looking at the quilt!

whinnytoo 07-17-2011 09:50 AM

I Love it, and that green border with the narrow gold strip really is great!

WisWis 07-17-2011 10:05 AM

I think it is lovely as it is.

postal packin' mama 07-17-2011 10:14 AM

Those mediums/prints just make it all the more interesting. Wouldn't change a thing; it's beautiful as is your sewing.

Lucy90 07-17-2011 10:31 AM

Like it the way it is.

trolleystation 07-17-2011 10:31 AM

To me it looks exactly like it is supposed to. Love that scrappy quilt.

sylviasmom 07-17-2011 10:39 AM

Its a beauty. You do have lights, mediums and darks.

Katts 14 07-17-2011 10:45 AM

I think it looks great!!!

amazon 07-17-2011 10:58 AM

I like it the way it is! I just finished up three of the Strip Twist. Yes , you can change it, by changing out some of your colors and mixing it what you have already made. When I had the first two rows of mine it was reading a lot of yellow, I just kept adding more colors,I tried for two of each color of the rainbow and black , brown & white. Here is how mine turned out http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-137196-1.htm Please keep us posted and remember, you can totally change the look and color also by switching you blocks around.
