I can only imagine the HEARTBREAK you're going thru for the second time! I'd seriously consider having the pipes replaced so that this doesn't happen again or move your BEAUTIFUL sewing studio to another room where it's NOT near any water. You definitely need to add all this STASH onto your homeowner's policy SOONER than later. I hope your plumber has called by now and it's an easy fix this time. I do remember when you had this trouble before and I wouldn't want to trade places with you at all just trade STASHES, lol!!!

Drip, drip, drip. No, the plumber has not called. What is dripping, I am sure, is the water that has collected in this ceiling. The only pipe that runs across there is the one coming out of the water heater. DH shut off the water coming out of the water heater so it should hopefully stop dripping here shortly, hopefully. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

I am on my second load of fabrics. I may be able to get buy only washing 3 large loads. I have a large front loader washer and I filled it pretty good.

The floral fabrics all feel dry. the water that got on the shelf of blues was dripping off the facing of the top of the cabinet (not the molding) and so it ran down the inside of the cabinet door, only getting water on the bottom shelf of the cabinets. My whole cabinet wall is made up of nine actual cabinets.
Thinking about it I have not checked the purples or the greens if there is anything wet. I don't think there is because I don't see any water droops there, but better go check to be sure.

The rest of the fabrics feel ok.

What a terrible thing to happen and for the second time! Love your stash. I could play in that for a long time.

I hate to say this, but I would pull every bit of stuff out of those cabinets. You're going to have to be sure the structure itself is completely dry and mold free, before it's safe to return any fabric, paperwork etc. to those cabinets. The entire room will hold excess moisture for a little while. (Several days-weeks). Do a mold test in that general area prior to reloading the cabinets. Watch the hardwood under them as well. Sorry it's happened to you.

Mold would be my biggest concern. Remove fabric and make sure all fabric is air dried before storing anywhere, use a dehumidifier . All basements are damp, When you see what a dehumidifier removes, you will never have a basement without one. Keep ceiling fans on low all the time. Sorry you are having to deal with that instead of enjoying your work space and creative fun.
