Help- what pattern is this

I saw this on Etsy, and the quilter called it Champion Block Pattern - but that doesn't come up when I search for it. It would be a perfect pattern for me to make for my son's Charger quilt.

It is the Carpenter's Star. You can find it here: http://www.maryquilts.com

Don't you love it when people rename patterns? NOT! Nice layout for a sports quilt though.

Oh - thank you so much, Quilting Haven. Tartan, that is very devious, isn't it. That is what I thought too, but looking at all the sports fabrics, ie. tshirts - all the fabric is polyester. Concerned about mixing that with cotton.

Another view:

That version would be fairly easy to draft - it's on an 8x8 grid - if you do your own drawings.

There seems to be more than one way to cut the pieces to get the same effect (from a distance).

T shirt quilts routinely mix cotton and knits. You back the knit pieces with light stabilizer before cutting to size.

And now the young girls are all calling this the moda love quilt. You can see patterns for making it in three sizes for free http://www.unitednotions.com/Moda-Lo...Cake-Quilt.pdf

Marsh, what size do you want to make the quilt?? This is a square quilt. I can draw this quilt using EQ7. It is going to be an easy quilts since it is half square triangles and squares.

Marsh, if you want a quilt measuring 60" x 60", you can make this quilt using 6" finished blocks and border. Here is the design of what your quilt would look like. I would match whatever the color is in the Charger fabric being either a yellow or a gold. Hope this helps you.

There are a couple of Charger fabrics that are 100% cotton on the market. You can get them at Joann's and WallMart. You can order them on-line but will pay a premium for it. If you want to use a t-shirt for the center design I think if you just use a stablizer it would be fine.

You can buy a good selection of Team fabric on line at Joann' on-line store or "On line fabrics". In store Joann will usualy only carry local team fabric but they have a good selection on- line. Joann's on-line price will match the sale price in the store and will will usualy take 1 coupon per purchase such as 20% off total purchhase or free shipping over $50. Be careful with joann since on some fabrics they will require you to buy mim of 2 yrd. yardage is usually 60" wide. At the
"on line fabric" store the price is useally joann's sale price and you can buy any yardage. shipping is about the same in both places. I have bought from both these places due to they will carry teams that are not in my area. No problem with either.

Cute quilt!!!!!!
