here a UFO , there a UFO, everwhere a UFO
I thought I had a few UFOs . Then I started to sort through my sewing stuff and I found 18 UFOs plus 8 sewing repairs to do! Anyone else in this mess. So where do I start!?
Thank you! Now I don't feel so bad about the 3 ufo's in my sewing area!:p
Oh my gosh, your as bad as me! LOL I would start with the one that is the closest to being done. That way you won't feel so over welmed and give up. You can do this girl!! Im rooting for you!
Just one at a time. I started out with 8 or so and I am down to 4. Loving that UFO challenge.
That's a good idea to start with the one that is closest to being done. I have around 60 or so myself. I know I won't get them all done this year cause some of them have been ideas in my head and have all the fabrics - etc. but not even started yet. I list them on a numbered list. Whatever number is pulled, that's the one I work on. For instance, this month I am working on a quilt that I made the top about 13 or so years ago. I hope to have it completely finished by the end of March. Then on to the next one and so on ....
I have more UFOscthan I care to admit or count!
Have patience.. Pick one at a time, and they will eventually get done.. Then you can post them.. and have the rights to brag.. Can't wait to see them..
Barri |
I feel your pain, I'm trying to get mine caught up before I start a new project. It's hard though because there are several new things I want to work on!
I know better than to count mine. I'd probably be really discouraged.
you are lucky to only have 18, I have more than I can count, but Im working on them
I have about 6, but I refuse to start anymore until I am at least don't with 3
start with the repairs. they usually go faster and you can clear them out of the way. then just pick one ufo at a time and go for it. now, if only i took my own advice.
just pick one you really don't mind working on and finish it. i have over 25 UFO tops waiting on me!

Okay, your first mistake was counting them. I like to squirrel mine away so I have to really look for them. How many do I have? Too many.
I have been in this perdicament before, I like to list, them get them done, and cross them off my list. Sew satisfying.
At least you counted...lol. I refuse to find out. Just start on one so you can finish it. Good luck.
LOL, wish one of them would jump out at me.
Just depends on what you count as a UFO! I have 5 tops that need to be sandwiched. THere are 3 sandwiched and pinned, but need quilting and binding. Then there are the 3 that are cut out and started - works in progress I guess those are. I refuse to count the ones that are in bags with all the fabric and the pattern/idea waiting to see the light of day - but if I had to guess? Maybe 30? Oh my.
I have 6 that are due in May so I'm working on them in the order they're due. Getting those 3 sandwiched last night helped a lot. I make a list each week and try to work off that list - just have more going on than I'm used to. |
the only way is 1 at a time. i don't even want to count how many i have :)
Ive got 8 that were tossed aside.. Plus 4 that need borders and that not counting the ones that i collected fabrics for... Im right there with ya !!!
I managed to get about 6 quilts finished this year, I only did one or two fresh ones so you know I had ufo's stashed in the closet. Not even close to being caught up. LOL
Line your ducks (ufos) up in a row and start working on them one by one. lol.
The last count I did was four UFO's and thats more then I ever thought I'd ever have, so your not along . :)
You're brave in counting them! I am in the same boat. Got oars-?
Yes, I am. However, I am afraid to count my UFOs bcause the stack is soooooooo big.
Honestly, I couldn't STAND to have that many UFO's! I would constantly think of all that fabric just in limbo!! It bothers me to have one unfinished, which I do, it is a queen size I am hand-quilting, and I put it aside last year before leaving for another trip overseas, and I haven't gotten it out since. I came back and got into a couple of rag quilts and one for my Uncle Bob, plus one for my son's girlfriend for her birthday, now making purses-that quilt calls to me every night, wondering when I will finish it and get it on my bed!! Yes, it bothers me to have even ONE UFO!! I even love doing binding, because it signals the end of a project and makes me that much closer to being able to start another!! I also want to start my Star Spin, my Whitework Sampler, my Sunbonnet Sue, my Ladies Day Out (Bonnet Girls), and now, my McKenna Ryan's "Home Tweet Home" series!! Help, I am afraid I might not get thru them all before wanting to start another!! My only hope is to have them LA quilted and not do them myself.
I have around 6. But determined to finish one of those this week. Really its more of a threat.
I have UFO's that just need to be quilted....ran out of batting, waiting on the order. Do you ever have a top waiting to be quilted and I have one several years old because someone else helped me design it and I've never been happy with it it's too long and not wide enough so recently I found it again and I'm adding borders to "fix" it and changing some corner stones in the first border I don't like. Ever done that? you thought you finished and then you change it around? Thanks goodness for that one i was smart enough to buy tons of fabric in the line! Good luck with yours!!
I've only been quilting 3 yrs so I don't have Abby. After hearing about numerous UFO's others have I'm trying hard not to have any... Wish me luck!! :)
About 5 years ago I was in the kit buying mood and bought several. They sat on a shelf all this time because I was afraid of what if I make a mistake and cut something wrong. Now I have lost that fear and really getting things done. I just pull one down off shelf and get busy. Its fun to see how my taste and styles have changed over time. Will I ever get all these UF'O done and do all the free patterns I have collected over the years? No but I am having fun along the way.

That's all I have in my sewing room is UFO's. I really need to see about getting some of them done.
I know it's easier and more fun to start a new project. I made a list--at least 10 and counting UFOs. I keep telling myself it will feel so good to finish something. I am going to finish a quilt today! One down!
lol- I am afraid to count mine-at least 30
Who counts??????????????????????????????????????
I am sitting here thinking Wow, you only have 18. LOL I fight the urge to start a new one and lose the fight all the time.
Is it still a UFO if you have the blocks cut, but not sewn. Or if you have the fabric and have designed the quilt, but not started it?
I also have more than I care to count. I have tried to limit myself to starting new projects and getting out my UFO's to work on. Our LQS is having a UFO workshop the first Sat. of the month, hopefully that will help me get caught up. Also I meet with my sis and 2 cousins and one girlfriend once a month and I am gonna work on UFO's. Hope you get caught up, then you can go buy some more fabric....
Yip! I just put them away and start something else! ha ha
