LOL...I have the opposite problem. I am always cold and I don't like a lot of light - very light sensitive. So, I only turn them on when I need them for a task or when I leave the room to iron. That way they help warm the room up while I am out.

I can't help you but I can empathize. My husband asked the other day if he could put my little ceramic space heater in storage now. I said, "No! I still use it when I am sitting at my machine." I probably will all summer. If it is under 80° and I am sitting still I have to have something to keep me warm!

The halogens do warm the place.. I have them in the kitchen.. The rest of the house has CFL's.. and it's cool.. I would get an a/c, and fan.. he cost of cooling the house for one room would add up..

We have central air but the upstairs is always about 5* warmer, so I bought a window unit for our bedroom and turn on the ceiling fan to circulate the extra cool. I dont turn it on until about an hour before bedtime and make sure the door is closed. Its sure alot less to run that if needed than to run the central. Sometimes we dont need the entire house cooled so I use it if needed just for that room ! They are pretty cheap and not much to run the newer models.

Full Spectrum Bulbs generate less heat and also provide day light lighting (if you buy the daylight ones).

Being cold all the time is not normal. It's a symptom. I was that way for years. A new Dr. asked me if I stayed cold more then usual. I had told other Drs about my coldness but it was dismissed when my thyroid test kept coming back normal. Normal for thousands of women but not normal for me. The new Dr. said the results were in the low normal range which most Drs think is fine. He did further tests and now I'm on medication for my thyroid and I lost my extra weight and have more energy. Find a specialist and find out why you are so cold all the time. It's important.

My sewing room is in the southwest corner of the house and is the warmest room in the summer afternoons. I use a ceiling fan, which is very effective. However, I try to finish my sewing for the day by late in the afternoon when the sun is shining directly through the window.

change the bulbs and get a fan to circulate the air!

Thanks! I have had my thyroid checked multiple times over the years because of symptoms that were inexplicable but the dr always says normal.

I finally "aged" out of my HOT days, now I'm usually COLD :)

My upstairs sewing room gets very warm too. I have an A/C window unit but it has to run a while to really help when the weather is very hot (Houston). Also use portable fans that help me also. I will try the cooler bulbs too.
