I have found that small which I use you can starch and press .clover iron or similiar useful.. Tacking I just do a stitch aon the folded point and easy to keep in place then I always press them.
No idea why I press them unless I like the look feel.

Cut hexi es is the seam included. Just read mine and can't find answer.

Thank you for the Hexie question, Sandypants, I have been considering give this a try because I will be traveling soon for work and hate unoccupied hands. Now, with all of the reply's, I think I can do this.

I ordered my quilting patis from Brandy's. http://www.brandysquiltpatterns.com/mylarpcs.html They are laser cut mylar pieces that are so sweet to work with. The needle just slides along the plastic. I use them over and over and they still look just like new.

I'm just learning this fun craft! It is fun to see all the unique ways it can be done. My hexies are one inch and I bought the papers (English paper piecing) to use. I use 2 1/2" squares of fabric. Center the paper hexie on the wrong side of the square and while holding just snip off the corners of the fabric leaving enough fabric to fold over the hexie paper. Then fold the fabric over the hexie and hold the fold in place with a small binder clip. This is done on every other side of the hexie. So I use 3 of the minie size binder clips. Then it's just a matter of folding and mitering the corners and taking a couple of stitches in each corner. Remove the clip as you go. This is a quick and easy way to baste the fabric around the hexies. No pins required and just use the same clips each time while basting. When holding the hexies to sew together there is enough room to whip stitch two together without sewing into the paper. I just slip the tip of the needle into the edge of the folded fabric. Clear as mud when I reread this, but maybe some light has been shed. I'm certainly having fun with this new found hobby. Hope you will too.

I don't baste my hexies. I use enough Best Press and iron them and they hold without thread. I've been doing it this way for a long time and have never had one come undone. I pull the paper out right after the Best Press is set.

I don't understand all of these papers and card stock.. I am going to have to take a class I guess. I am working on a quilt with hexies and I am not using any of that. I watched a Kay Wood video on you tube and her technique helped me a lot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHajk3oQD3M

I use Moda's Sewline glue stick to instead of basting the fabric to the hexagon paper. I also bough an extra large hexagon paper punch at Joanns that's made by Fiskars that cuts 1 inch hexagons with the 40% off coupon. Like a previous post, I use 2 1/2 inch squares that get the corners trimmed off.
