Sorry, put this in the wrong section. Don't know how to delete it.
Hi from The Woodlands! Have sewn for years mostly primitive snowmen. Last year started doing small quilting projects namely tablerunners using charm squares. Found this site while trying to figure out how to make my seams match better. Then found a great post on half square triangles so had to try that and that was fun. Thank you to all who have posted tips etc. It has been a tremendous help. Now off to find out where to buy bobbins for my Kenmore 19233. If any of you are familiar with The Needle Nest, they are closing so there went my Janome bobbins.

Have a great week!

Welcome and Hi! I lived in Alvin/College Station/SugarLand for a little more than 40 years! Now I am in NC.....oh to be back in Texas...most of my heart is still there!

You might check the Quilters Emporium in Stafford. I know they stock lots of Janome machines and products. They might be able to order them for you if they don't have them. I know it's not exactly close, but it would make a good excuse to check out their quilt store...It was my favorite!

Cfrosty 08-28-2011 04:37 PM

Oh thank you. I will see if they have a website. Hope you fared well with the weather from Hurricane Irene.

luvspaper 08-28-2011 04:41 PM

Luckily I am much further from the coast here in NC than I was when I was in Texas.....I was there for the tropical storm of 79, Alicia, Rita and Ike..... So hopefully I wont' have to deal with another hurricane for a long time!

darlenewitt2004 08-28-2011 04:42 PM

Yes, Needle Nest is having a 50% off sale. They are only open on Wednesdays and Saturday. But for groups of 6 or more, they will open up. Unfortunately, their owner Joyce passed away recently. I'm pretty sure there isn't a website to order from.

Cfrosty 08-28-2011 04:51 PM

That's a shame no one else could take it over. I had tried to call on Friday so that explains why no one picked up the phone. I will call them on Weds. and see if they have any bobbins left, if not will try and find an online source.

Thank you for the information.

Welcome from another quilter in Texas!

paulina 08-28-2011 04:56 PM

Sorry to hear that. I just went there for the first time yesterday. (also a Woodlands girl here!). For what its worth, they still had a large basket of bobbins on the counter, but people were scooping them up by the handful.

Cfrosty 08-28-2011 05:03 PM

Hi, Wish I would of went over there yesterday. Will try them on Weds.

Thank you!

Hi,

My name is Cherry and I also live in The Woodlands. I am currently in Winter Park, CO enjoying some very nice and cool weather. I will be returning Saturday.

I heard about the Needle Nest just last Friday and was unable to go.

As for your Janome needles, there is an authorized dealer at Willow Brook Mall - Sewing and Vacuum Warehouse on Grant. I will be there on the 9th of September for our Brother Club and would be glad to pick some up for you.

I too am sorry to hear about Joyce and Needle Nest. Formerly lived in The Woodlands until 2 years ago and now reside in FM1960/Champions area.
For the ladies in The Woodlands and/or 249/Tomball area, do you all every have any "get togethers" whether formal or informal? quilting related or not?

Hi, Cfrosty! Welcome to the board from another Texan.

KLO 08-29-2011 06:42 AM

One more North Carolinian checking in to say Welcome. I am in the north central portion of the state and all we had was grey skies all day, more forceful winds than usual, and rain for about 5 minutes. Oh boy, do we ever need rain. Too bad those "extra" waters up north couldn't be sent this way. Good luck finding your bobbins. Sounds like a number of members here have sent you good information.

Hi, from Garland, Tx.

darlenewitt2004 08-29-2011 06:57 AM

TAQ (Tomball Area Quilters) meet every Thursday from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Very informal, everyone "does their own thing", whether it's knitting, quilting, redwork, etc. We meet at the Samuel Matthews Park on Huffsmith, a block west of FM 2978.

Welcome from another Texan on the Gulf Coast.
