It is easy to make ur own out of hard plastic..I make them ..as I use multiple when I hand sew small hexes..make the size u want say 2 inch square..then cut off the corner..it takes an exact measuring..but not hard..I usually do it on heavy paper first..then trace onto the plastic..or template plastic..I use two sided tape to hold the paper on the plastic before a trace..

Yes, the shipping is a bit exhorbitant, but I was told by my P.O. last friday while mailing a letter, 1st class, to NZ, that their rates have gone up quite a bit. My letter with card cost me over 7 dollars! I'm thinking they really pay attn to weight.

It's not necessarily the shop that charging extra. Where I work we've seen UPS and USPS charges going up, up, up. If a letter is very thick (I think 1/4") it goes at package rates.

After making a few of these type quilts I have learned to
1. Always use thread that blends and matches with the hex border and blends with the joining of the blocks to make rows.
2. Use very thin batting. I use Thermore Ultra Thin batting
3. I glue baste the border around the hex to get a perfect miter and to be sure the edges are all straight and with no bulge.

It's fast and simple to make a quilt as you go quilt using the templates.
