I've been using the cutting mats from the Dollar Tree when they had three in a package. Now it's two but a great bargain! I do have to be more careful so I don't cut into them but I should be careful anyway. Blessings to all. Blessed Christmas. Kathryn

you can use a rotary cutter with the plexiglass because it thick enough I have found this to be a real cheap and easy way to get templates and they store well.

I had a friend who worked in a doctor's office several years ago. For some reason the office was throwing away never used X-Ray sheets. My friend scavaged them for quilting templets. I have never used them but she claims they work wonderfull for quilting templetes.

They work like a charm...marked with sharpie type marker and cut very nicely with kitchen shears! No more expensive template plastic for me! Hope this help someone save some $...we all can stand to do that about now! Blessings....Chigger

You can also use the plastic pocket folders the kids use for school. I stock up at back to school time. 10 cents apiece and can get them in colors so you can have 21/2 in in blue, 3in in green. etc.

Thanks for the money saving hint.

The cutting mats you get at the Dollar Tree are for chopping vegetable and such in the kitchen. They never go into my kitchen but go straight to the sewing room. You will find them where the kitchen utensils are hanging up. The mats are usually lying flat on the bottom shelf.

OH thank you so much, I figured thats what you were talking about but just wasn't sure. Thanks

I use self gluing floor tiling they work great right height, and as long as you don''t cut pieces out of them, they can't be beat and you can always find them on sale or someone has a few laying around. they cut real easy with old scissors
