I still like warm and natural best.

I've only hand quilted with poly and didn't like it. I've used cotton ever since. Love the way the stitches look with cotton batt. Not sure how the stitching would look on machine quilting though b/c I've never done it with poly.
I also don't like the way poly beards.

I used to say that too. Now I started working with tighter FMQ and the pieces are getting too stiff. I need to find an alternative that leaves more drape.

As for the question....I think if it works for you, why the heck not switch it up.

If you want more drape and can afford it, try silk - so light and drapey, even when quilted more heavily. I hear some others are this way also but haven't tried them yet. Some battings just need to be washed to soften up and drape well.

I like Hobbs 80/20 for most of my quilts but it depends on what or who the quilt is for. Baby and kid quilts get a good poly batting, they will be washed and dried hundreds of times.
I love my winter couch quilt that has a low loft poly batting, so soft, comfy and lightweight when I wrap it around me while watching TV. One of my bed quilts has warm and natural and I find it feels heavy when sleeping under it but it is warm. May in Jersey

I, too, am a warm and natural/white fan. I like natural fibers and find it is plenty warm, but wicks away any moisture if one becomes too hot. IMHO as well :-).

I think wool batting may drape better than warm & natural, especially if heavily quilted.
