I have seen wool at $75.00 per metre, looked at some today 1/2 metre at $39.95 (width was listed at 60 inches).

That's right about the petrol it can go up 20 cents in a day put lately it has been hanging around the $1.20 mark. How much do you pay. I have never seen wool in my LQS. I will have to look for it in the speciality shops to compare prices, now we are at equal $ value it will be easy to compare. I will wonder down the high street tomorrow, to hot to go shopping today it is over 30c I think that is 100F for you.

Try for wool shirts, etc from thrift shop - once washed, they work very well for quilting.

I bought a gorgeous wool fabric to make a jacket recently. It cost me the equivalent of $30 per metre!

My LQS has almost nothing under $22 per metre. I too am happy with the Aussie dollar being on a par with the Americam dollar, just wish postage wasn't so high.

I take it you don't realize that it is almost 4 liters to the gallon? Hmmm...That makes almost $6/gallon.

Wool suitings atr $24.95 at JoAnn's. Fabric.com had some on clearance for $10 a while back and I got some for a braided rug.

one of our lqs' carry the $20+ a yd wools...i shop for wools at thrift stores! you can get a whole lotta wool out of a mans suit jacket! or a wool plaid pleated skirt???omg yards! for penny's on the dollar! i buy lots of 100% wool garments, take them apart, wash and dry on hot and ready for quilting! i love working with wool... and it dyes so well...just a great fabric to work with...makes beautiful quilts! and shopping in the thrift stores you can get a really wide variety of colors, textures and weights with a very small investment. :thumbup:

I wish I could make a nice warm wool quilt to cuddle in. but I can't even touch wool as I am alergic to it.
