Homemade ruler foot

I took the advise from another QB member and made my own ruler foot for my Bernina on a regular darning foot. I Crazy Glued a washer onto the foot and when it was dry, I glued another on top of the first washer. It is about 1/4 inch high which is high enough for the thick ruler to ride nicely along it. Is it perfect, no but it is working in all other directions except the back. I got tired of waiting for Bernina to have a ruler foot for sale.

I too have been waiting too long to have something I could work with. Found this blog and glad I did.

Very clever. Just one question though: what do you mean it is working well except on the back?

A regular ruler foot does not have the post or shank in the back that prevents me from putting the ruler there. I can't see to quilt backwards anyways so it is working fine.

Thank you. Have never heard of a ruler foot until now.

I tired something similar and it worked well enough but it was very hard to keep it straight against my Bernina walking foot and move the ruler even tho it is an Omnigrip

very clever!

The ruler you see is a 1/4 strip of plexiglass I had cut. I scored 1/4 inch lines on it and the white squares are the hook side of adhesive Velcro. The Velcro hooks help to keep the ruler from slipping on the fabric. I also wear my Machinger gloves that help grip the ruler and the quilt.

My wife has designed a Ruler Foot to suit the Domestic Sewing machine made in Stainless Steel in High and Low shank

It looks very neat! My Bernina machines has an unusual cone shape on the machine that fits into a matching funnel shape on the foot so I don't think it would work.
