greensleeves 02-18-2011 11:54 AM

Don't lose the key!! :)

rusty quilter 02-18-2011 11:56 AM

Yep, we have to go to extreme measures to keep our quilting stuff just that--and not a household free for all!

JanetM 02-18-2011 12:15 PM

That's it...padlock them and hide the key

carhop 02-18-2011 12:22 PM

David it would be reversed in my house i gave him a bunch of scissors told him not to touch mine so he gave me a drawer in his tool box full of ratty screwdrivers and told me these were mine

susie-susie-susie 02-18-2011 12:47 PM

If you raise a big enough fuss, they will not use your scissors. My family is afraid to use any scissors that are in my room without asking first. You are too funny. lol

I can remember my mom threatening to kill us if we cut paper with her sewing scissors.

sewwhat85 02-18-2011 02:21 PM

that is too funny

Vicki W 02-18-2011 03:16 PM

Not to use sewing scissors for anything else was one of the first sewing "rules" I was taught. Probably the only one that I have kept constantly.

Congratulations on a creative solution David.

mtnative 02-18-2011 04:43 PM

Awesome solution! My family knows better but I haven't quite got the grandkids trained yet. Harder to be mad at them.

I caught my DH about to cut electrical wire with my Gingher shears many years ago. Our 3 sons knew not to use them, but hubby didn't get the memo apparently. He said to only use scissors that he could tell were for sewing. Since then all my sewing scissors are Ginghers. Anything with plastic handles are fair game. Ü

cathylynn 02-19-2011 01:40 AM

too funny! glad I live alone now - no one messes with my stuff.

AnnieH 02-19-2011 01:44 AM

Suggest key on a chain around your neck. Be careful when sleeping!

hmross 02-19-2011 03:19 AM

That's too funny David. My family does not mess with my scissors. They have other scissors they can use and they know I will never shut up if they use my scissors. And they can't mix up my scissors with what I gave them cause all look alot different. Example my one pair has purple handles. Anyhow, as long as they leave my scissors alone that makes me a very happy camper.

What I do is leave a cheap pair of scissors in the kitchen drawer and another pair in plain sight on the desk in my sewing room. I hide my good scissors. This isn't fullproof but has worked so far and Glenn hasn't used my good scissors for any forbidden projects.

DeeBooper 02-19-2011 04:17 AM

looks like david"went" and got new scissors...you are so funny.

my husband has also been guilty of using my scissors. thought i had him straightened out about this, but the other day he was giving our dog a haircut, & let it slip that he had previously used my scissors for this! time for a new hiding place! & i bought myself a new pair & gave him the old ones!! :)
