I use freezer paper for appliqueing I have a wire "tray" thing that our flatware came in to hold my rulers. I bought old plastic flatware trays at thrift stores to hold my individual pieces. I haven't got it finished yet, but I was able to find a 6 foot roller shade at a thrift store for $10.00. I bought some flannel and will glue the flannel to it. VOILA - a designer wall!!!! |
Peg boards are easy and pretty to cover in contact paper...

I use marbles when I am pinning my quilt togeather . But I put a couple underneath and that way I can move one one way and the other the other way. Makes it easier than having to keep moving just one all the time.

This is a suggestion for using a sewing item around the house! Used machine needles are great for hanging pictures on walls, they make smaller holes and support quite a lot of weight.

I use any of the above. One of my ways of utilizing nice jars from jellies or whatever, is to store threads in them. I sort the threads in colors and put the jars on shelves. It's attractive and easy to find the color I need. I used to do garment sewing so I still have the smaller spools. I also use clear jars for buttons, etc.

I am loving all of these great ideas. I have just really started to teach myself to quilt and many of these will come in handy. I think the tool I seem to use the most is my MasterCard!
