IF you are going to do something hand made, then find out for sure if her new house will be colonial, and then look up what looks nice in colonial houses as on BHG site. Or, after she gets into the new house then send a floral arrangement to her, and tell the shop you want it to be something appropriate for a colonial house.

Buy a nice basket with a round bottom for the table. Trace around the bottom and make a small pouch of muslin. Fill with cherry pits, rice, corn, etc. and close up. Make a nice cloth to use inside the basket, put small pouch in the micro wave and heat then put the cloth over pouch and fill the basket with warm rolls. My grandmother called them biscuit cloths. She had an assortment of cloth napkins that matched her cloths. It made for a little bit special meal. Add an unusual cookbook and some spices for baking (vanilla beans, cardamon seeds, etc.) A little different and a little fun.

How about an Afghan? Most anyone can use an afghan for the cold nights, and even a decorative item for a family room or living room. If you know her colors that makes it a little easier on choosing fabrics.

How about something for her yard? A shrub, perennial flowers, even a small tree. She will always think of you when she looks at it.

I purchased the periwinkle template after watching the periwinkle mug rug on Missouri Star Quilt to make star shaped mug rugs for small gifts. They make up in about 30-45 minutes and are really cute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiFOsVye6IE

Maybe a Christmas wallhanging, there are a lot of nice patterns. Does she use/like microwave potato bags.
Can you do lampshades, a quilted table cloth. I hope you find something suitable from all suggestions you receive on this board.
