Most of my quilting is done for charity. Folks know that so it seems there is some kind of a sign pointing to my house-and my stash grows larger each time I give away a pile of quilts or lap robes.
I think of this as the Lord providing me with fabric to help others. Evelyn |
Hi, Evelyn!
How big do you make lap robes? I live right next to a nursing home? What kind of material do you use? Shayvian |
I'm not crazy about fat quarters mostly because they are more expensive than yardage. For me it makes more sense to buy 1/2 yd increments unless I really love the fabric and think I may want it as a focus or inspiration fabric that I may want to use for a border. then I would buy 1-3 yards!!

I buy anything that is on sale. I think regular prices are ridiculous.

I mostly buy 2 or 3 yards or the end of the bolt. Occasionally I'll buy 5 yards. Which reminds me, I need to get cutting and sewing. Yikes. |
Read the directions for your pattern. You would not want to prewash fabric you are going to use for a stack n whack and would probably always want to wash a red.

Hi, yayaquilts!
Thanks for your advice on building up a stash. After I finish my first project, I'll let the stash build itself! Shayvian |
Hi, Nettie!
That is a good idea too. When I get a usual store and can watch their prices, I'll keep that in mind. Shayvian |
Hi!
I liked your idea about building a stash too. I'm in such a hurry, I'm getting the cart before the horse Shayvian |
