wow thanks everyone!!!
so many good ideas that i want to try. for starters i'm going to try the copy paper and sew over it. if there is too much trouble with removing the paper from the stiches i want to try the one where you use a regular sewing machine and sew with a threadless needle, then pounce it.
this board is filled with super people!!!!

now to just learn how to actually follow a line when free motion quilting. i only know how to stipple!

Look for the Crayola brand fine point washable markers. They have them at WalMart. I use a light box and a printed pattern under the fabric and draw the lines. I make family quilts and washing is a requirement for a quilt I make. GD's drag them all over the house!

These markers work great. Just remember to hide them away from the kids.

I trace it on a piece of solvey (water-soluble) and then run water over it to disolve the solvey.
