The other way I've seen this done is where you break everything into triangles so it appears to be parallelograms but is a much simpler block. You lose a little of the cleanness to the design but no Y seams.

Oh, or you could do it at equilateral triangles. 2 triangles of each color to get the parallelogram. That might be do-able, esp if you have a 60 deg ruler

Try splitting the pink diamond into 4 pieces crosswise and see if it is easier. I don't have the design software that you do but it seems that would give you the same effect and would be lots easier and faster. Good luck.

If you dont want to do Y seams, as Lucy said, just do 60deg triangles. Stitch the triangles together in vertical rows, then join the rows. I did a Christmas hanging like it (ignore the hollow cubes, just look at the solid ones)

there is a gal who has re-written several of the old patterns like the tumbling block so that there are no Y seams...she breaks the diamonds apart as some posters have said, sews strips then sews the strips together. Google "not your grandmothers tumbling blocks" and you'll get her information.
