All of the above (well, maybe not kick it in the fire lol). I did a hand appliqued heart quilt that lays atop our king size bed. I hand pieced all the hundreds of blocks. I call it my 7 year stitch because that's how long it took me. I didn't work on it full time. So, it was kinda bittersweet to have it done. I missed working on it. So, now I'm doing a hand appliqued basket quilt:-)

Finishing a project is always something to celebrate! I like to hang my work somewhere so I can admire it for awhile! :-)

I feel the same way. I am so happy that it's finished, but I'm sad that it won't be in my house anymore :(. Ahh, well. No good thing comes without sacrifice!

Even though i am really happy to finish it, but i feel stupid because before i fully enjoy it i start thinking and planning for the next one...lol

Then why do you quilt? i'm surrounded by other artists and they all work with different mediums and i asked them all about this type of feeling and i've found that this is an extremely common feeling amongst artists. |
I always feel like the fabrics are a bit dull, the patterns not as interesting and I don't like it as much as I thought I would. But I think that's just because I've spent sooo long staring at it that it's not interesting anymore. After a while that familiarity goes away and it because beautiful again.

It really depends, sometimes I'm sad the project is done.
I make almost all my quilts and give them away so sometimes I like to just hold them and look at them for a while. My next project is for my bed so I'll be able to hold it for a long time! Vicky |
I've already moved on by the time i finish a quilt, so its a relief to no longer have to force myself to focus on that one.

I feel happy because it means that I can start the next one.
