I usually use A4 copy paper to applique, or tear-away. Have had no problems with either.

At a guild meeting last year at a show n tell one quilter showed a machine appliqued quilt that she used sewer cloth as the stabilizer on.....a whole roll for about $10 at the Home Depot....very pliable and lightweight, well I bought the stuff as did many others as the local HD wondered why all these women were buying this........and put it in a corner...now the other day, while searching for something else...I came across it, pulled it out of that corner, but have no project in mind for it......has anyone else used this as a stabilizer...I'll have to check with guild members at next meeting......

I have used old telephone book pages occasionally for machine appliqué.

I seldom use any stabilizer when machine applique'. I use Heat and Bond light for all of my pieces, and blanket stitch. Sometimes I will applique' with the batting under the top if I am doing a wall hanging.

Interesting about the sewer cloth. I had to Google for more info, of course! Here is a thread that explained it to me:

And I found this at Amazon:

Might have to try this!
