I too put them on a thumb drive (USB memory stick).

I found I was printing out patterns for everything I thought was pretty until I realized that I was destroying entire forests for things I would probably never get to do. However, I wanted to save them, just in case so I was just saving to my computer. About a year and a half ago my hard drive crashed. I now back up everything on the computer regularly. The patterns I might find again, but I couldn't replace the photos. However you do it, back up, back up, back up.

well, my 8 yr old has been playing a game on my computer. He went to youtube to watch a video to find out how to unlock something in his game and...now my computer is dead--all my patterns/photos gone.........so, do you back everything up? I should have but I'm not sure how to...thoughts??

I have upwards of 2000 patterns/quilt pictures and there's no way I could find them or pay for the printer ink to print all of them out. I store all my patterns/photos, etc., on an external harddrive. They only cost about $50 to $100 and you can move them from computer to computer easily. Sort of like an extremely large memory stick. These don't crash when the computer crashes.

I print any pattern I want and store in a binder or file cabinet alphabettaly.

Ok ladies - I am really, really challenged when it comes to the computer. In fact, I have just figured out how to use a printer! lol!

I have 2 of those little memory stick things. How do I download my saved info onto them? How do I get what I want on to them? -that is the part I don't get...

Also, I want to purchase one of those external hard drives, but I have no idea on how to use them...

Can anyone explain how to use these things? or point me in the right direction?

I told you I was challenged...(actually my fibro fog is getting worse & I am having a harder and harder time trying to figure out how to do things...)

I agree with the binder, If I really like something online I make a hard copy for my binder

I have mine in a binder and on a usb external hard drive. Some I do burn to a cd. Sorry you lost them, but perhaps when you get the computer repaired they will all be there.
