I've only done them a few times. I just did them with the little square, stitch diagonally and cut off excess triangle underneath. Worked fine for me. Saved little triangles for who knows what later.

Try different methods until you find one that you like.
Deb Tucker has a nice video on Youtube with similar method but you have to buy
her ruler too.
I just bought the "Fit to be Geese" ruler but haven't used it yet.
Sounds like a nice ruler for squaring FG.

That is my favorite method...love that there is no waste. It is important to cut accurately and to sew an accurate seam.

I do them using the Eleanor Burns method and her geese rulers. Mine turn out beautifully every time. I've tried several other methods & they never came out straight.

I use the Lazy Girl ruler and love it. No waste and geese are correct size after dog ear trim.

Saving triangles.

Sometime soon I will post a quilt I made with leftover triangles. It was so fun to make.

No waste method for me and do have the special ruler to make them any size I want/need.

I have Deb Tucker's ruler and I love it for flying geese. As much as I try, I'm still one of those people who do better making something a smidge bigger and cutting it down, and this ruler and method does that. I guess lots of people can cut and sew triangles, but like I said - I'm not one of those people!!
