I am so proud of all the people who donated to the raffle for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk in St. Paul, Minnesota. I made a quilt for the raffle and it will be raffled off on November 15. I was told today that so far the St. Paul Corner Drug has received over $1,200.00 for raffle tickets for the quilt.

I am humble because I was asked to make a quilt for the cause. I had a lot of fun making it. It was a pleasure and a joy.

Thank you for letting me toot my horn! Edie

mytwopals 10-27-2009 01:24 PM

Congratulations on a job well done. Two thumbs up!!

patricej 10-27-2009 01:24 PM

it's absolutely ok to be proud of yourself, too, for making the quilt. AND you qualify for well-earned pride in a quilt that's making so much for such a good cause.

good girl!!! :P

Are you going to post a picture?

billswife99 10-27-2009 01:38 PM

You should be VERY proud! We do what we can do to help and your contribution has certainly been helpful!
And I want to see it too.

harrishwhippets 10-27-2009 01:50 PM

Congrats, a job well done, we will be proud for you as well!!!! :D

Ninnie 10-27-2009 01:51 PM

Way to go!! You should be proud, and congratulations on raising so much money!!

Edie 10-27-2009 01:52 PM

You know, I can quilt, I can embroider, I can cook and I can do whatever. But I'll be darned if I can figure out how to put a picture on the screen here. The only picture I have is a digital and it is of it hanging on the clothesline. So I have it there. Getting it here is a horse of a different color. Our son put the picture of our dog on a quilt (her favorite thing to do - lay down or sit on a quilt that I haven't finished yet and lets me know that she is not going to move). He talks fast (the son) and I don't understand a word he says - He is a wizard with computers (his job) and I still don't understand what he is doing. I'll see if he will put it on the next time he comes into town - or at least write down exactly what I am supposed to do - item by item. Edie

Thanks! :D

Moonpi 10-27-2009 02:00 PM

Congrats! check your pm.

Janstar 10-27-2009 02:01 PM

Good for you and you should be very proud of yourself. Don't worry, it took me forever to learn how to post a photo on here. You'll get it!!

Olivia's Grammy 10-27-2009 02:21 PM

It took me a longer to figure out how to resize the picture than it did to make the quilt. :D I've decided my brain is getting to full to learn to many nonquilting new things.

Chele 10-27-2009 02:23 PM

We're proud of you too! Such a wonderful cause and look at all the money your quilt raised. How cool is that? I'm sure you'll find out how easy it is to post pictures of your beauty. We would love to see it!

joeyoz 10-27-2009 02:57 PM

That is awesome. It does make you feel good that all those people who bought raffle tickets thought a lot of your quilt. It will raise a lot of money for the cause. Way to go.

BellaBoo 10-27-2009 03:37 PM

Oh, don't be humble! You have the right to be proud. It's a great feeling to something so worthwhile. If everyone would do something to gain that feeling all our lives could be better.

amma 10-27-2009 03:55 PM

Edie, you toot that horn loud and clear, what an awesome thing you did making a quilt and for such a good cause   We all would love to see your quilt.......Nancy

pookie ookie 10-27-2009 06:10 PM

Congrats! It sounds wonderful. That's a form of pride that doesn't hurt others so I think you're good to go.

Maybe you should tell the local news people about the event, they cover it and you give us the link. It'll spare you the picture posting and give you something for your scrapbook. :0D

earthwalker 10-27-2009 06:56 PM

Congratulations and very well done, no need to be humble when it's all for a wonderful cause.

Jeannie 10-28-2009 05:29 AM

Thank you for doing this. Very generous.

Shemjo 10-28-2009 06:08 AM

kat112000 10-29-2009 05:54 AM

Toot that horn loud!!

Esqmommy 10-29-2009 05:58 AM

Actually ER, you have just demonstrated to all of us "how to act proud and humble at the same time" - congrats and I hope it is auctioned to a loving home...perhaps it will get to a survivor...

Olivia's Grammy 10-29-2009 06:07 AM

Can I toot my horn early? My DD just asked me how much it would cost to make a quilt? Who's knows? I never keep up with cost. It's for an auction at her Ladies Group at her church. I told her I could donate one, but she said they didn't need it until March so I'll make her one in pink and brown the groups colors. I am just so happy that my DD goes to church.

Mousie 10-29-2009 06:12 AM

It's a great question, bc when i first came to QuBoard, I was so used to being very, very modest, and saw ppl being very comfortable with their talents and hard work.
I haven't quite got a handle on not being sensitive about showing my stuff, bc although I can whip out a little dress, a tote, a bear, etc...things I am used to...showing quilts amongst quilters still scares me.
I know it shouldn't, and when I see others stuff that they claim a flaw in, I just think it's endearing...I know how hard they worked...why can't I do the same about mine?
You are doing a great job of giving me a good example, edi...lead on! :D
There are sections in the newspaper for these things, and ppl eat it up. Somebody really should call them. Hope your son visits soon too. :D

Joan 10-29-2009 06:34 AM

You have plently of reason to feel proud.

In my heart of hearts, it's efforts like this that I hope will beat this disease.

Edie..........Congrats....how great you must feel....

My group of quilters have been making pillowcases for the juvenile victims of cancer. We make them, take them to a LQS, who in turn, deliver them to the hospitals.

If anyone is interested in the project, the website is....

www.conkerrcancer.org

Below is a photo of my group on our first trip delivering cases to the LQS.....and remember that a day at a new quilt shop can be a big + to our main cause....after discovering all that they had to offer, we made a day of shopping shops along the route home.

Again...congrats on your quilt...I hope that they make lots more $$$$$.

Congratulations on making a quilt that is generating good sales for a great cause. You should be proud of yourself!

Needles in SW OR 10-29-2009 11:44 AM

Girl,
You go ahead and toot your own horn.
I will 'blast' it for you!
I am proud of you and your accomplishment, first to be asked, 2nd to complete it and 3rd to be proud of yourself.

We always feel better when we do for others. Keep up the good work!

I have been quilting for 3 years and finished my first quilt for myself this month. That feels good too!

Ma for Aadyn 10-29-2009 03:25 PM

OK, the cluck of all clucks, will ask you this: is the digital picture in your computer? If it is: Go to the top left of the page and you will see Quilting Forum. Click on it. On the page that comes up, go to Pictures. Click on it. On the page that comes up, the first item is How to post pictures. Click on that and the directions will pop up. I hope this helps.

Woohoo!! What a gorgeous quilt!

One thing I CAN do is follow written directions. Now if only I could solve the problem of my new format, perhaps I could post some of my own. I don't know what I did, but I think I messed things up the last time I tried to load pictures into my pc. Cluck, cluck.

Olivia's Grammy 10-31-2009 02:39 AM

Wow that is beautiful. AND you learn how to do something new by posting the picture. Yea You

Deecee 10-31-2009 12:44 PM

Beautiful quilt!

Edie 10-31-2009 02:59 PM

You will have such a good feeling when you are done. Trust me - you will bond with that quilt. It is the weirdest feeling and when you have to give it up it is like losing a part of you. Be sure and write a book to go with it. Tell what the block is about, why you chose pink and brown, little bits from the newspaper, and sayings. Check on google - Quilting Poems. There are some really lovely little poems, one of which I put in my books that I give with each quilt:

LIFE IS LIKE A QUILT

Life is like a patchwork quilt
And each little patch is a day
Some patches are rosy, happy and bright
And some are dark and gray.

But each little patch as it's fitten in
And sewn to keep it together
Makes a finished block in this life of ours,
Filled with sun and rainy weather.

SO let me work on Life's patchwork quilt
THrough rainy days and the sun
Trusting that when I have finished my block
The Master may say "Well Done."

Have fun! Edie
