I am going to put my 2-cents worth in here.
I am an Ebay seller.
I sell a lot of vintage fabrics going back to the
30's 40's and earlier.
I even have French fabric from the 1800's.
I give these fabrics a pull test in each
direction before listing. If the fabric has
an issue it is listed.
Some of the vintage fabrics have odors associated with them.
you need to message the seller and ask them these questions.
bottom line is money is money.
I have a lot of repeat buyers due to the way I sell.

Sorry Patrice :)

I would be careful unless I could see it first hand...

most of my fabric is at least that old. I have never seen any with dry rot from that time period.

I have a lot of old fabric. Quality sellers on ebay will answer your questions. I have seen rot, smells and damage from sun in some of my rummage sale and garage sale fabric. But it is the exception. Once I bought a trunkfull of truly vintage calicos and they were wonderful since properly stored before I bought them. Ask questions before buying.
