I have large 3-ring binders - with dividers - I put all of my patterns in plastic protector sleeves.... My binders have dividers - quilt patterns are divided according to style - Pieced, Applique, etc. - and then Blocks are divisied accordingly - as well as special dividers for projects - with tabs that would include Kitchen, Bags, Pin cushions, etc.... I find that this really helps and it's easy to flip though them and find ideas and just pull out the pages that I want to work on - and because of the plastic sleeves that all stay nice and clean and neat and when I'm finished I just put them back in the binder. |
So true, I am afraid to get rid of my magazines. When I need a creative push, I will thumb through dozens of magazines and always find something new I am interested in.

silly me... I thought I was organized with my tapeflags on the magazines in racks and a binder for the loose patterns....

I don't have any magazines yet but as soon as I began making blocks I noticed a problem with templates. My system so far is to have a notebook with document protectors with pictures of the quilts in alphabetical order by title.
Then in a legal size expandex file with 26 divisions I have the templates and directions in legal size manilla folders in alphabetical order. That way I can find them by title or by their picture. I haven't quite figured out what I do with all the supplies that I have. The fabric is in see through plastic bags. But the cardboard, tracing paper, colored pencils ect. I've just got a box that it's all jumbled up in. |
I also find this way works best for me too.
