It depends on complexity of the pattern and whether you are hand sewing or sewing with machine. My first hand sewn single bed quilt (my first quilt), took a year to finish. I can now churn one out on the sewing machine in about eight hours and then another two to three days to quilt it.

Isn't that the truth. It also depends how excited you are about finishing it.

The first quilt I ever made was KING size, I was working full time, and took a quilting class. I got the entire top done during that 2 month class, but it took about 2 more months before I got all of the quilting done (on a regular machine, saying a lot of dirty words along the way!)

I have made one in 2 months, my last one took 2 years only because i got pregnant and stopped working on it, probably would have taken me 4 or 5 months, just depends

I too work full time, this is a great question, some quilters are so brave :D

the last one I finished was a king size and it took months to hand quilt it. I bet the whole thing took about 6 months, but I started it 8 years earlier and didn't work on it for about 7 years. Then I finally finished it. I have it for sale on e-bay right now.

Until I joined this Quilting Board I could do a top 2 to 4 weeks depending on the pattern. A baby quilt in 4 days start to finish. I do tac my baby quilts tho.

I just finished a king size from start to finish in a month and half and that's with a week delay waiting on some fabric.

I too started with a Queen size snowball quilt about 5 years ago and was hand quilting it. It still awaits as other projects and ideas push themselves to the head of the pack. Days, weeks, months, years . . . yeap, done it all. Some seem to go together quickly and then sit waiting for the quilting guru to show me the pattern and some piece slowly, but the quilting pattern jumps out and finishes fast. I enjoy the process and the end product. I am curious about all the quilt magazines, techniques and classes that emphasize fast - where's the fun? I too work full time and have family demands so fit it in around a full schedule - the more I quilt the more I find the calm, excitement and satisfaction in the process

Some are never finished. I have friends that have quilt tops there grandmothers never finished.

I cann't really give a time. Just so long as I still work on it I'm fine with that. I usually only quilt about 2-4 hours per week.

I hand pieced a king in two months the top was done, I'm waiting for my mother to quilt it, it's been 2 years in the making as of now.

It takes me anywhere from a year to months depending on the size and my health witch has been real bad as of late so I sew when I can now. :D
