My Bernina 440 is like brand new even though I have put hundreds of miles on her. I think we got her in '07.

I am still sewing on my Pfaff 1471 I bought in 1986. It is computerized, but not as advanced as other machines today, but it is still sewing strong. I have never had any major thing done to it, just the cord replaced in the foot petal.

My Bernina 440QE is over eleven years old (as best I can figure out) and I had it in the shop twice for cleaning and a checkup. It always runs like a dream. The repairman I had here for my longarm saw my machine and asked how I like it. Told him I love it. The shop he works for no longer sells Bernina but a friend of his works for one that does. He said the new ones are not as good as the older ones. Don't know, this is his opinion. I do like the large bobbin the new Bernina's have though!

Pfaff 7570 - 15 years. The machine is going strong but the software is no longer supported.

My daily workhorse is a Viking Platinum; bought second hand at an auction, never tried it, brought it home, plugged it in...no problems for the five years I've had it. Also have a Janome 6600, a newer Singer and a couple of embroidery machines that are all still doing fine. Then, we go to the older ladies....JK, they almost ALL work!

Had (well, still have) a Bernina that simply refused to boot up at 12 years old (3 years ago). Backlight comes on but nothing further on the display. Bad circuit board, just the part to repair is more expensive than machine is worth.
I bought a Janome to replace it. Michelle |

Lots of computerized machines in brother and janome still going strong after 15+ years. There was a similar discussion on Pattern Review not long ago and the consensus seemed to be for the new models more like 10 years life expectancy but no way to know really!! But probably 15 yrs would be considered a long life for today's TOL types...again just a guess.

Another Pfaff 7570 at 15+ years.

19 years for my Pfaff 7550.

23 years for my Bernina 1230. Best machine I've ever had.
