Too bad your offer was too low. I would have gladly given her $500.00 for it. My Grandson was given a brand new, never used Singer -15 clone sewing machine - from the 1950s, I paid him $100.00 for it. There are lots of explainations why there are new machines out there that have never been used.

Sounds fishy to me, especially after reading Dunsters Craigs list message. Sounded almost identical.

When confronted with having to do something with a lot of stuff, the money value is less important then getting the job done. I had to deal with my great aunt's home after she passed away. I was overwhelmed as she kept everything she ever had. No way I was going to sort through all that stuff for weeks. After a few days I was ready to pay someone to come take it all. Her sisters, including my grandmother, thought it should be sorted and sold for what it was worth. I took her with me and after one day she said never mind just get it out of the house and told the other aunts to come do it themselves or keep quiet. LOL.

A good clue if it is stolen whether or not if if she has the owners manual. If she is an older woman, I doubt that she would sell a stolen machine. The Janome needs to be threaded properly for it to sew well, all the more reason to make sure you have the manual.
The family might not have a clue where the manual is and some people never keep manuals. If there isn't one with it, the 6500, 6600 and 7700 have manuals you can print on-line. I don't think the 7700 came with a printed one. Sorry you didn't get the machine, but keep looking. I've loved every Janome I've had, only upgrading as they quit supporting the older models. |

Bellaboo... I agree with you about how there are lots of people that just want the job done more than worry about getting top dollar. So true.
Not having a manual is no big deal. I'm horrible at finding those things! I keep putting them in "safe places" - never to be seen again until the next time I move. LOL Just last night, I chased 45 miles to go buy an ElnaPress off of Craigslist. This thing was *brand new*, *never been used* and I scored it for $50. (Probably sold for $500 two or three years ago) |
