I admire all of you who can do that math -- for your ability and your generosity.

Made a Queen size Jelly Role Race over Christmas Bread -- in a single day. I have no idea how much fabric I used because it was a Moda bag of scrap that turned out to be jelly roll strips that were 30" long and then I supplemented from spare FQ and scrap. I had this vision and after the first double, I took a stack of 4 patches and inserted them along the way randomly and then finished sewing it up.

Finished in a day - had to add side borders because it was 107" long and only 64" wide. Trimmed the bottom to make 98" long and donated along with some spare wideback to Quilts For Scholars - they donate quilts and school supplies to first generation college entrants.

Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts has a video on the cost of precuts over the cost of yardage. The worst one is mini charm packs at 425% over yardage. Jelly rolls are not that bad - she says 72% more. it is a very interesting video with a graph at 10:51 of all the costs and percentages.
