Last night I only went thru 7 9" blocks before I figured it out. There was one time I was sewing all night long and I must have "sewn" at least 30 feet of blocks without bobbin thread. It was 3:00 am but still. I started laughing and couldn't stop!!!

The Pfaff Exp. 4.0 has one, too.

been there, done that. sorry
|
In my Pfaff when the bobbin gets low it kind of rattles. When it quits rattling I know I'm out of thread. I rarely sew more than just a couple of inches without bobbin thread.
|
I can hear when the bobbin is out of thread, the machine changes the pitch of it's hum just a little bit and I can normally pick up on that so I usually on do a few stitches.
|
no thread in bobbin!!!!
do you think that is why the last 4 blocks I sewed didn't stay together?.....But this sewing at 2-4 A.M. has a way of doing that to me. lol |
If I'm going to be sewing for a long time,1st thing I do is check the bobbin,so I seldom run out.Another thing that helps is the amount of thread my Bernina bobbins hold.Out of 5-6 machines I've owned, this is the champ.DH says it's like the Energizer Bunny......:)

good golly, my machine is outdated...... it sew forward and back with a few easy extra's. Bobbin alert? What's that?? LOL

How many of you seem to go miles without thread?

My machine lets me know when the bobbin is just about empty. When it dings at me I know there is 6" or less left on the bobbin. I've seen some people purposely sew until it does run out, to save thread, but I change bobbins as soon as it dings. That is one of my favorite features on my machine.
